Nowheresville – (Chapter: Do You Believe In Love?: Chapter 14)

    Ashley’s POV

Spencer leans in and starts to kiss me. I pull back startled.

"Spencer… listen I really missed this but… I just don’t think…" I trail off at a loss for words because her eyes are gray again.

"What are you saying Ash? Are you breaking up with me? Doesn’t any of this mean anything to you?… Do I mean anything to you?" she says. The hurt in this girls eyes could make Arnold Shwartzenager cry. It pains me to look at her like this, I turn away.

"I-I ju-just t-th-think mmmaybe w-wee sh-should just be friends. I-if mmy mmmmoom fffound ooout I I I just I dddon’ttt kkknow wwwhat I I wwwould ddddo. Ssshe might hhhavve mmme sssenttt awwway agggain." I say shaking and stammering.

"How could you! How could you do this to me? I waited all this time for you. I searched the whole fucking country. Screw your mom ok! Just… You can’t just show the hell up here and tell me you just want to be friends! God-Damn friends! You know you felt the sparks just then! You can’t deny that! You… just… I can’t believe this! No, I can’t believe you!" Spencer screams as the sky darkens. She just glares at me with all this emotion. I haven’t really gotten a chance to process everything she said when she takes off running. I see her feet and here the splashes fade as she tares away from me. Spencer just cursed. I don’t think I ever heard even a mild swear leave her lips and she just cussed me out.

"Spencer! Spencer Wait! You don’t understand!" I scream down the creek. I start after her but the ripples of her trail have calmed.

"Spencer! Just listen to me! Spencer! Please come here! Spencer where—" I stop. I get to the waterfall when I see her dark form bunched up on the ledge her arm dangling with her finger tips in the water. I run up clomping onto the rock and lean in near her. It doesn’t look like she’s breathing. I turn her over and pull her into my lap. I put my ear close to her mouth and hear the ragged wheezy breaths she’s hardly managing to take. They sound quick and labored and painful. HER ASTHMA! I pat down her pockets but I can’t find her inhaler. I start to rub slow circles on her back where her lungs are. She feels hot like she has a fever. I don’t seem to be getting any response from her with this. What do I do? What do I do? I can’t, no I won’t loose her. Oh man, oh man! CPR! Of course! I lay her down on the rock and proceed to stratle her. I hold her nose and open her mouth. Slowly I breath into her a long deep breath. I pull back and I see a kind of white fog escape her mouth. Like in the 3rd Harry Potter when the dementors are sucking out Sirius’ soul. Her eyes flutter. I do it again, twice. When I’m about to come up from the second try I feel her lips move and she starts to try to kiss me.
