Spencer didn’t exactly run into the hospital, even though she wanted to…but since Brooke was most likely there, she figured it wouldn’t be her place to rush to Ashley’s bedside…

“Kyla…” I said simply to Ashley’s sister who was standing outside the doorway looking into Ashley’s hospital room where the lights were dimmed and Brooke was sitting in a chair next to her

“hey spence…” she replied giving me a hug

“how is she?” I asked

“she’ll be fine…she broke her right collar bone and like a few fingers or something, but other than that it’s just cuts and bruises…” she explained “…the ambulance people said if she hadn’t been wearing her seatbelt, she would have fallen out of the car and it would have rolled right on top of her…” she said then I rubbed her back “…I could have lost my sister tonight…” she added simply

“but you didn’t…” I told her “…she’ll be fine, and we’re all going to be fine…”

“are you sure you will be?” she asked me “…I mean, Spencer I know about you and her…I’m her sister, she tells me everything, but…knowing Ashley…she’s still with Brooke because she’s hiding how she really feels…”

“I know…she told me that…” I said “…she told me she wants to be with me, but I’m just afraid she’ll walk down the aisle and it will be to late…”

“yeah…that’s what I was afraid of too…” Kyla said “…Brooke’s been in there for like a good half hour…she really loves Ashley, but somehow I just don’t believe she’s in love with her…”

“what do you mean?” I asked her confused

“yeah in their eyes the relationship seems perfect, but neither of them are ready to spend the rest of their lives with the same person…Ashley wants to be with you, and I just get the feeling that Brooke still has a lot she wants to do before she gets married…”
