CHAPTER FOUR

Spencer had still said nothing to Ashley. She just couldn’t do it. Ashley looked up at Spencer and took in her features. Spencer had tears silently running down her face, her shoulders shrugged over, back curved, and hands curled up into fists. Spencer was breaking right in front of the already broken Ashley, and it was breaking Ashley even more.

“Spence, I… maybe this was for the best. Maybe, we just needed to realize that not everything is meant to last forever. Maybe… “

Spencer wasn’t listening. She stopped after hearing for the best. She went back to a safe memory with Ashley. The one at the beach which Madison had destroyed. Spencer could remember everything about that day; it was just her favorite day.

Spencer was sitting in her math class when she got a text from Ash. <hey baby girl, lets go 2 the beach after class. I need to talk 2 u and now. I’ll pick u up?> Spencer smiled at the nickname Ashley used. “Baby girl”… I love it. <sure ash, I’ll meet u outside of ur class> As soon as the bell ring Spencer was off and practically running to Ashley’s class. “God did you run here baby girl?” “Haha Ash, very funny. But actually, yeah I was. I just want to get out of here and talk with you.” Ashley smiled and grabbed Spencer’s hand as they made their way off campus. They got to Ashley’s Porsche e and Ashley opened Spencer’s door for her and then ran over to her side of the car. “Ok, so beach it is!” As soon as Ashley shifted gears Spencer grabbed onto Ashley’s hand again and didn’t let it go until they had to get out of the car.

The two girls walked along the tide before settling underneath their pier. It was where they told each other everything. As they sat down, Ashley released Spencer’s hand and started playing with her own hands, something only done when Ashley was nervous. Spencer noticed this and reached out and grabbed both of Ash’s hands, which caused Ash to look up and smile at Spencer. “Ok Spence, so I need to tell you something, and I need you to just wait until I let this all out because if I say it once, I don’t think I’ll have the courage to say it again.” Ashley looked at Spencer who just nodded her head, letting Ashley have the complete floor. “Ok, so lately I’ve been thinking about what I want to do with my life… and who I want to do it with. Well, not do it with, but like… who I want by my side while I’m living my life to the fullest and fulfilling my dreams with. The more I thought about it… the more I couldn’t see myself with… a guy. I can just see everything that I do, with a girl, not a guy. So I guess what I’m trying to say is… I’m gay.”
