“Uh did you just call me Ash? Haha. Thank you. But I don’t think I’m gonna have to worry about Spencer, she is a new person and she’s not ready to leave her new found status to renew our relationship in anyway. And I’m really sorry about our past as well; I never really took in the consideration of other people’s feelings before. But two things make me realize that now. Jessica and Spencer…. I care so much about Jessica that I would never hurt her ever…on purpose… and Spencer already hurt me and it sucks. It really does. So for that, I’m sorry.”

“Thanks, I appreciate that. And no matter what happens with our girl, I’m gonna tell her how you feel. I take back what I said about you earlier. No one has ever cared about her the way you do, and I couldn’t see past my own hurt to see that. You take good care of her Ash, girlfriend or not. I saw that when you two were just friends as well. … So do you want to try and start anew and be try and friends again?”

“I’d love that Madds,” I said before wrapping her in a huge hug.

Just as we were pulling away I saw this beautiful girl walking towards us.

“I must be seeing things. Please, someone pinch me and make sure I’m not dreaming. Are you two actually getting along? And are you two actually… HUGGING?!”

“Haha, very funny, way to ruin our moment Jess.”

“Well, excuse me then. Let me just go,” she said as she was turning around to walk away.

I knew she was joking so I grabbed her by the hips and turned her around and wrapped her in a huge hug as well.

“I was joking; you know I always want you around.”

With an ‘ahem’ we pulled away from each other and looked towards Maddy, who obviously had something to say.

“Sorry to ruin your moment but I have to get going… cheer practice.”

“Bye Madds,” we both said in unison. We just looked at each other and smiled.

“See you two around?”

“For sure,” I replied, knowing that she knew I meant that I would see her around as a friend, not just someone I pass in the hall.

    We hugged and said our goodbyes, and with that, she was off. I looked over to Jess and realized that I needed to tell her what happened with Spence before it eats me alive.

“Let’s go to the beach.”

“Ash it’s a little chilly today are you sure?”

“Yeah, we’ll stop by my house and grab some blankets.”

“Okay,” she replied with a huge smile, knowing I was taking her to our spot.

I grabbed her hand and we walked to my car. I stayed in deep thought, preparing my speech and hoping that I wouldn’t lose her…
