South of Somewhere – (Chapter: Chapter Eight- Old Habits Die Hard)

Leading the way into her own home Ashley turned to face Spencer, her hand on the door knob as she waited for her to step inside. After the door clicked shut she turned, watching her walk into the living room and take a seat on the couch. “You want some shorts or something?” She questioned, noting the rather uncomfortable looking mini-skirt she wore.  “Yeah, that’d be great.” Spencer replied, looking around the room a bit as if she expected things in there to look different.

As Ashley left the room Spencer breathed out, wondering why she felt so nervous around her. She felt similar now as she did when they had first begun their relationship, with part of her wanting to move closer and the other part wanting to move away. Ashley seemed to be feeling a bit awkward too, and Spencer assumed it was probably just because of the way she was acting. Things would be so much easier if she just took her back, but that was a step she didn’t feel like she was ready to take.

The sound of Ashley re-entering the room caught her  attention as she quickly looked up at her, smiling lightly as she rose to her feet. “Thanks.” She spoke simply as she accepted the short boxer like shorts from Ashley. Pulling up the shorts,  she then unfastened her skirt, wiggling her hips slightly to loosen them before allowing them to drop to the floor. Bending over she folded the skirt and set it on the back of the couch, looking up at Ashley just in time to catch her small smile, “What?”

Ashley watched her change, smirking slightly as she wriggled out of the skirt. She was so gorgeous, yet at times so un-coordinated. When she asked what she only shrugged, plopping down on the couch and switching on the TV, “Nothing.” Spencer followed suit, sitting down beside her but keeping a slight distance between them. Shifting to face her she then rested her elbow on the back of the couch, allowing her temple to rest against her palm, “So, what have you been up to this last week?”

Relieved she wasn’t pressing the issue further Ashley was a little surprised to hear Spencer making conversation. She half expected to be the one leading all the conversation tonight, “Honestly? Not that much. Talked with Aiden some, and it turns out Kyla has some stunning abilities when it comes to avoiding me…” Ashley sighed, wishing she had a more interesting story to tell, “You?”
