Stranger – (Chapter: Where Am I?)

Where the fuck am I? Dammit not again. No clothes, bad headache, and wait who is laying next to me. I’ve gotta get up and get out of here before she wakes up. I get my stuff and leave before she wakes. When I get outside I realize I don’t know where I am. I don’t even know what city I’m in.

“Need a ride back?” a voice behind me says. The person has a beautiful voice. But I don’t remember her name. “We didn’t do much talking last night. I’m Spencer.” Finally, I have the courage to turn around. Her eyes are gorgeous and her blonde hair falls smoothly across her shoulders. “Ashley,” I reply softly. When she smiles I feel my knees get weak.

“I’m sorry, I don’t really remember much of last night.” I say. “I don’t know how I got here, hell I don’t know where we met.”

“Come up and I’ll explain over some breakfast and coffee.” She turns and heads back inside. I’m not sure why but I feel comfortable with her. I don’t want to run out as badly as I did earlier. We head into the kitchen and she begins to take out food and puts on a pot of coffee. She sits a small glass of orange juice with two aspirin next to me. I forgot about my headache once she smiled but now I’m thankful she was so thoughtful.

“We didn’t have sex if that’s what you are worried about,” she offers with a slight chuckle. “I’m not trying to tell you what to do or anything but you should watch your drinking. I’ve seen you before you never gave me the time of day. After more then twice the shots you usually take you were more then happy to say hi.”

I didn’t expect this, I know I’ve been drinking a lot lately but I didn’t know it was to the extent that others were noticing. Maybe I do need to stop, or at least slow down. “What made this time different, why did I say hi this time?” I’m not sure I wanted to know the answer but I needed to know. “All your friends left, I offered you help. Why are you friends with people who could care less about you? It was obvious that you would not be okay by yourself.” Her words hit hard but they were right. Why did I hang out with the people I did? It sure wasn’t because I thought that they cared.
