The College Life – (Chapter: Chapter 11: Desperation)
“You getting tired?” He asked.
“Yeah, I think I might head back to my room and get some sleep.” I say sitting up and pulling my legs over the edge of his bed to put my shoes back on.
“Well you could always stay here; my roommate won’t be here tonight.”
I felt a switch go off in my head, like a red alert. “Um, no, I think I’m just going to go. I’d rather sleep in my own bed.” Before I know it he has my wrist and I look back at him to see his pleading eyes.
“No, you should stay.”
“I don’t think I feel comfortable sleeping in your bed with you. I mean we hardly know each other.” I try to free my wrist from his grasp but his grip grows stronger and his face becomes sterner. “What are you doing?” I ask, afraid of what’s going to happen next. Without missing a beat my worst nightmare comes true. He forcibly pulls me onto his bed and pins both my wrists down above my head. His eyes grow dark and as he positions himself over me I begin to feel a calm come over my body and I feel as though I’m in control of this situation.
“You sure you want to go now?” He says as though he’s some serial killer about to slaughter his victim. The calm now rushes over my entire body as he straddles me, a knee on both sides of my hips.
“You’ve got to be fucking kidding me.” I say as his expression turns from sadistic to confused. I let out a sigh and force my right knee into his crotch; I’ve seen enough horror movies in my day to know how to survive from a killer, or in this case, a rapist. He doubles over and falls onto his side letting my wrists go. I get off his bed to retrieve my shoes and purse and before I walk out of his room, I look over to him to see that he’s still grabbing and trying to soothe his balls. “Don’t fuck with me again.” I say as I shut the door, milking the moment.
I walk down the hallway to the exit and can’t help but feel triumphant. Once I’m outside the boastful feeling fades and a feeling of uneasiness takes its place as my mind begins to race once again. Should I go to Ashley’s? Should I try to call her first? Before I can answer any of these questions I find myself halfway to Ashley’s apartment building, I guess that questioned answered itself. I grow nervous with each step wondering what I would say to her or if she would even be there. Once I make it there, I pace outside of her apartment door trying to stall for time and trying to come up with something to say. While going through a variety of scripts in my head I hear a door open. I spin myself around to see that it’s Ashley coming out of her apartment. A lump grows in my throat and I feel my insides tie in a knot. She locks her door and turns to take a step and stops in her tracks when she sees me standing outside the door. Her expression goes from surprise to annoyed when it registers who she’s looking at. She folds her arms and leans against the wall and looks at me expecting me to say something.
My mind is at a stand-still for once and words don’t make their way to my mouth as my mouth turns dry.
