The Slayer Chronicles: Episode 2
“Well… you said…”
“Since when do you listen to me anyway?”
“It’s part of the new improved me… don’t you like it?” Faith said smiling and grabbing Kennedy’s hand once again.
Buffy crossed her arms over her chest and faked a huff. “Not really… but I guess I’ll just have to get used to it.” Everyone laughed and then fell into silence as the car rushed them towards the Dresdon building. During the ride, Giselle retrieved Willow’s dagger from her bag. She began an incantation over it that sounded like many of the ones that Willow had used in the past. When she finished, the dagger was floating in the air in front of Giselle.
“There… now I am attached to the hilt and Willow to the point. Now that we are closer, I can feel her spirit… it’s faint, but it is good enough. It will guide me to her.” As they watched, the dagger turned and pointed in one specific direction. It was the right one. The car pulled to a stop in front of a beautiful, old brick building approximately six stories high that looked out of place in the business district. It was surrounded by tall, steel structures and across the street from it was the street vendor with the antique cart and the blow up Eiffel towers. The dagger rotated and pointed to the building and up.
“This is the place. Let’s go get her!” said Kennedy, her voice full of resolution. As they exited the car, Kennedy told the driver to wait for them across the street. They followed Giselle into the building.
“Maybe one of us should lead instead of Giselle,” Buffy whispered. Faith decided it should be her and she gave Kennedy an ‘I love you’ look before taking her post. They walked through vacant, dimly lit halls to a staircase… the dagger pointing slightly up and in the appropriate directions as Giselle walked. Kennedy took up the rear as Buffy placed herself next to Giselle. After three flights of stairs, they were becoming anxious and all of their senses were concentrating on the smallest of sounds and movements.
“This is too easy,’ Kennedy whispered from behind; her hand gripping the stake she held. Climbing the stairs to the fourth floor, they noticed that the lights were becoming brighter. Each of them smelled a scent similar to the one in hospitals. The dagger had stopped pointing up and now pointed down the hall. They could now hear noises… actually voices coming from one of the rooms. The dagger told them it was the right one. Buffy motioned for Giselle to stand to the side and stay in the hall after they went in. The three Slayers stood side by side in front of the door. No words were needed as Buffy kicked the door in and they leapt into the room.
