“Sweetie, you need to wake up,” Ashley pleaded on the verge of tears. Let me be there for you. You n-need to wake up. I need to make sure you’re okay. Kyla opened the door.

“Just when we thought the nightmares were over,” stated Aiden. They come crawling back.

“Don’t start,” Ashley sighed. You make it seem like I enjoy watching my girl suffer.

Kyla went towards Ashley and sat on the side of Ashley’s bed. “Ash, I know you may not want to hear this, but Spencer may need to talk to a professional about her issues,” began Kyla.

“No, she doesn’t,” Ashley retorted. I’m taking good care of her. All we need is each other, Ky. We don’t need anyone else.

“I know you are taking good care of Spencer, but there are obviously more problems buried in Spencer’s mind,” pointed out Kyla. It may be problems that Spencer may not even know about. You do need each other, but you also need an outside party to help your girlfriend. You two need to get your sleep again. You can get sick from your insomnia.

“I don’t know about Spencer having any more problems,” Ashley stated. The nightmares are reoccurring. I don’t blame her not being over watching Chelsea kill herself. She did see me get hurt, too. Do you have any idea how it feels to not be able to do a damn thing to help the person you love the most from their pain? No matter what you do it seems to be futile and giving her one of your prized possessions only makes the nightmares more violent. I don’t care if I don’t sleep. I need to make sure my girl is okay.

“You are doing the best you can, sis,” said Kyla. You’re standing by Spencer’s side.

“My best isn’t simply good enough for Spencer,” Ashley replied as she held on to me tighter. It won’t help her find her way back to me. I need her to come back to me. Tears began to stream down Ashley’s cheeks.

“Ash, don’t cry,” began Kyla with a sigh.

“Just go,” Ashley stated in tears.

“But, Ash,” said Kyla.

“Maybe she can get Spencer to snap out of the dream or something,” Aiden explained. Kyla nodded. Aiden and Kyla left Ashley’s room.

“I wish I could help you, baby,” said Ashley in tears. I know me breaking up with you messed you up and you’re afraid I am going to leave you again, but there is no place I rather be than with you through the good times and bad times. In the immortal words of Luther Vandross, I’d rather have bad times with you than good times with someone else. I’d rather be beside you in a storm, than safe and warm by myself. I’d rather have hard times together, than to have it easy apart. I’d rather have the one who holds my heart, babe. You have to believe that. I would never say those words to anyone else except for the only girl who has captivated my heart and soul, you, Spencer Carlin. I felt my eyes slowly open and I felt more tears stream down my cheeks by seeing Ashley’s tearstained face.

“I’m sorry I made you cry,” I began with a sigh.

“I’m sorry Teddy hasn’t helped you sleep,” responded Ashley.

“He has, but it doesn’t mean that my nightmares aren’t still there,” I pointed out. I don’t know what’s wrong with me, Ash.

“Nothing is wrong with you,” stated Ashley.

“Yes, there is,” I sighed. These nightmares won’t stop.

“I know they won’t,” said Ashley.

“It’s not fair you don’t sleep because you stay all night worrying about me,” I replied.

“It’s my job to worry,” explained Ashley. You’re my girl.

“You really are too sweet for words,” I commented with a smile. I honestly don’t know how you put up with me.

“It’s not putting up with you, it’s being there for you and taking care of you,” stated Ashley. I love you so much and I’m not leaving you without a fight.
