Twilight Runway
I had to admit, Cullen had a talent for convincing people of the impossible. “There’s also no way I would ever fall for you, so you don’t have to worry about that, either.” He shrugged his shoulders, as if that were the obvious.
I cringed.
For some reason, that hit a nerve.
I continued to stare at him for a moment, ignoring the small ache in my chest, and decided, “Fine.” What was the point in fighting it? It did work perfect to an extent. Aside from the fact that he was a complete jerk who I disliked immensely, he wouldn’t expect anything afterwards and there would be nothing to feel ashamed about if I ever told Jacob about this.
“Yess!” He grinned, raising his fist in the air and striking it down, “I just got an excuse not to go to that party!”
“What party?” I asked, curiously.
He looked at me for a moment, as if deciding whether or not to tell me, and then said, “My girlfriend is having another shot-glass party. To be quite honest, I’m sick of going to them. Getting drunk and passing out at a friends house is great and all– when you’re in high school.” He shook his head as if he could not possibly fathom the excitement in that, and continued, “I was going to lie to get away, anyways. But now, I really don’t have to. Well, completely anyways.”
He seemed so proud himself.
I was still hung over the word ‘girlfriend’. How could this guy even have a girlfriend? As selfish and conceited as he was… if it were me, I would have gone crazy!
My eyes opened wide as my thoughts started to process what I had just been thinking. Why was I thinking of me ever being his girlfriend, anyways?
“…And you’ll get to bring the hottest guy in the world with you, so we’re even.” I suddenly heard him announce.
That woke me up.
I snorted, “You? The sexiest guy in the world?” He scowled at me darkly, “Sure, sure. I wont kill your dreams. Just make sure that you’re here at 7:00 o’clock sharp, alright?” I asked, raising an eyebrow. He would probably refuse after having that said to him.
He continued to glare and then suddenly snapped, “Fine! I’ll be here!” before turning on his heels and storming out of the room, slamming the door behind him.
With him out of ear-shot, I was able to laugh freely.
“He’s such a brat,” I laughed loudly, holding my stomach tightly to stop the pleasant pain, “He’s cute when he’s mad!”
I struggled to calm myself when the phone suddenly rang. Making sure that not even a giggle would escape me, I snapped open the phone without looking at the caller ID and asked, “Hello?”
I was convinced that tonight would certainly be an eventful evening.
And much to my surprise, I was definitely excited.
