Work was a blur for spencer. She finally opened the door to her apartment around 2. She had cut her day short not really feeling up to working. And as usual pennz came running his little paws playing wit her legs.

Digging out her cell from her purse spencer found kylas number and pressed the green call button.

Ashley was rubbing her head where her sister had hit her not a minute ago.

“god Kyla when did you get so butch?”

All she got in response was her younger sisters tongue in her direction.

“soo.. Who was that on the phone? She sounded ho-”

“Don’t even think of it ashley! It.s my birthday and it is going to be all about me,” kyla said smiling.

Ashley laughed. “your lucky I only found out about you 5 years ago.. So who was it?”

“oh that was my friend Spencer. She works with me and we started hanging out. So I invited her.”

“Spencer?” no it couldn.t be her..

“yeah she.s pretty cool. She was out in the midwest the past few years or so. But she just moved here like 7 months ago. I should call her back”

Ashley simply nodded. “yeah you do that ky.” theres no way it could be her… If it was her she would have remembered me when I said my name right?… God it.z been almost 6 years..

Spencer put her phone down and went through her refrigerator not knowing what to get. She settled on that is until something dawned on her. Ashley Davies.

Why does that name sound so familiar? Like I know her but I dont .

She shrugged it off not really wanting to dwell on it, started walking out of her kitchen when her phone rang. Checking her caller Id it said ‘mom’


Oh great. The last thing I need is my mother and her husband. “hey mom”

“hey sweetie. Ben n I were wondering if you could come over tonight? Your brother is. We thought it could be a family night.”

Family night.. Kill me “Actually mom I have plans tonight.”

“oh really? Well let me tell Ben.. What plans do you have spencer? Cause if your dating we need to know who this boy is.”

I really need to come out to my family. “no mom I’m not dating anyone. It.s just my friend Kyla. It.s her birthday today.” silence. “Mom?”

“Kyla woods?”

How does she know who she is? “yeah. How.d you know?”

“um Spencer told me she can’t come. Something about her mother and step-dad.”

“what was it like before u found out about me, like what did you do?” Kyla looked over at her older sister recognizing the awkwardness of the question.

“Ash, why won’t you ever tell me about it? It.s been five years and still I don’t know about what happened to you. And you know just about everything about me.”
