Within Temptation – (Chapter: 13: Dinner at Spencer's)
Spencer sat quietly the whole time until now.
Spencer: “I’m sooo not going to be a part of your cheerleading squad if this is how you treat people.”
Maddison: “You might not want to get in the middle of those two Spencer. They always were trouble.”
Spencer looked a little uncomfortable. I started rubbing her foot with mine and she gave me a weak smile. Crap. I was going to have to explain my past with Aiden. Something I wanted to avoid forever. She stood up and mumbled something about needing to get to class early and she left.
Aiden started getting really flirty with me, but I shot him down every time.
Aiden: “So, my parents are going out of town for the weekend. I’m throwing a party. You should come.”
Ashley: “Only if Spencer can come.”
Aiden got a goofy grin on his face.
Aiden: “Sure, sure. Spencer is more than welcome at my house. If you catch my drift.”
Oh, please. He would never get with her. Spencer is all mine.
Aiden: “Well, don’t forget your bathing suits. It’s no excuse. You’re going in one way or the other.”
Ashley: “Alright, I wont forget.”
I found Spencer at the end of school and we got in my car. She was really quiet. I wanted to put off telling her about Aiden, but I had to bring up his name to invite her to his party.
Ashley: “Aiden invited us to a party this weekend.”
Spencer: “I don’t know. I’ve had my fill of that stuff lately.”
Ashley: "I’m sure Glen would be there to make sure you were ok. And I know Aiden wouldn’t let anything bad happen, but if you don’t want to go then what would you like for us to do together?”
Spencer gave me a puzzled look.
Spencer: “Wait, why wouldn’t you go?”
Ashley: “I’m not going if you aren’t going. I was only interested in the party because it gave us something to do together.”
Spencer smiled and she obviously eased up on the Aiden thing for now.
Ashley: “It’s a swimming party too.”
Spencer: “Ok, you won me over. I’ll go. Only if you stay by my side the whole time.”
Ashley: “There’s no place I’d rather be.”
Spencer leaned across the seat and kissed my cheek. We pulled up at her house and she lead the way inside. I saw clay and Chelsea sitting on the couch. I waved to them as we went into the kitchen where her dad was cooking something that smelled delicious.
