Within Temptation – (Chapter: 49: one year later)

    Spencer’s Pov

Almost a year had passed by and not a single visit from mom. I hadn’t even received a phone call from her. We kind of didn’t speak of her much. It was too painful to see our family torn apart like that. I was angry at her for leaving, so to be completely honest I didn’t care to speak to her. I can’t imagine I would have anything positive to say to her. Its better to just not talk at all. I don’t even know if she was still in L.A.
She could be living in China for all I knew or cared. She tried to ruin my relationship with Ashley. The greatest thing to ever happen to me and she wanted to ruin it. Of course I didn’t care to speak to her. Ashley and I are still going strong. We are soul mates and anyone that tries to ruin that obviously doesn’t love me or care about my happiness. I was graduating very soon and I always thought my mom would be a big part of that, but here I am less that a month away from graduation and still no mom. At dinner that night we were all sitting at the table talking about my upcoming graduation.

Arthur: “I can’t believe my little girl is growing up. Soon you will be off to college, getting married, and turning me into a gray haired grandpa.”
    Spencer: “Oh hush dad.”

His face lit up with a smile.

Spencer: “Don’t wish my life away. I am only 18.”
Arthur: “You will be 30 before you know it.”
    Spencer: “I hope not.”

The conversation was light and playful just as it always was with my dad.

Spencer: “It just feels weird that mom wont be there.”

This was the first time anyone was brave enough to speak of her.

Arthur: “I know, but you never know. She could surprise you.”
Spencer: “Yeah, I highly doubt that. Like she cares enough.”
Glen: “You know what Spencer. I am sick of you. Mom is good to us. You are the one that has banished her from your life, so don’t even start the pity card.”

I was sitting there in shock. Where did this come from. Glen and I hadn’t talked much this past year, so I had absolutely no idea where all this hostility was coming from. To be honest he has been acting really strange ever since I got back from my trip with Ashley.
