    Ya Never Know… – (Chapter: 7)

“You beat the system.”  Abby turned to Kerry and pointed at her.  Kerry was walking around Abby and Kerry shrugged as if it were nothing.  It was in fact a big thing.  Circumventing the board the way she had was a dangerous move but one that she felt she had to make.  The ER department was always being hit hard and they needed a strong woman like Robbi to hold it together.  Robbi was also poised to bring in money into County in a time when money was going overseas and not in country.

“Absolutely not Doctor Lockhart I offered a very good attending doctor a position that needed to be filled.”  Kerry said with her curt style.

“I had the time to fill it for her.”  Robbi chimed in and she grabbed a few charts and began to walk away.  “Are we still on for dinner?”  Robbi asked over her shoulder and Abby’s brow creased and she realized that she was talking to Kerry.  Abby turned in slow motion to look at Kerry with knowing eyes.

“You betcha and don’t be late.  It’s your turn to bring the wine.”  Kerry darted off as best she could with her crutch and headed to the elevator.  Abby looked back at Kerry who was smiling and Robbi who seemed utterly serious while she looked at the charts and examined an X-Ray.

“You have a date with Weaver?”  Abby asked moving up next to Robbi and Robbi shook her head.  Abby really did need to get a life because this matchmaking thing just wasn’t her cup of tea.

“No we are having a working dinner.  At her place.  Stop playing the match-maker.”  Robbi stated with a wink.  “And besides she and I are getting to be rather good friends not ***** buddies not friend with benefits but simply friends.  Just like you and I are friends Lockhart.”  Robbi kept walking and Abby pursed her lips in thought.  Ray swung out of the drug closet and wagged a finger at her.

“You need to stop playing matchmaker.”  Abby feigned biting off the wagging finger and Ray added.  “Those are golden fingers young lady.”  Abby rolled her eyes and walked away with a confused look on her face.
