You Only Live Once – Why Not Enjoy It – (Chapter: 13 – Tragedy Strikes)
Kasey hadn’t felt this wheezy or faint since the last time she was sick. Three years ago to be exact. Three years ago she went through the same sensations; loss of appetite, a frail body, and nausea. These were symptoms that nearly sent her to her grave. However she beat it, she beat leukemia a first time. ‘And I’ll do it again.’ She thought.
“This is what you have to wear?” Ashley held up the large Trojan foam head while Spencer held up the large material covered foam body. The teens chuckled; thankful they could attend the game to see the brunette in such a crazy costume. Kasey was shaken from her thoughts and straightened herself out trying to cover up her nausea.
“Yes!” Kasey snatched both items from the girls and snuck into the washroom to change.
“I’m gonna go wait with Clay and Kyla. Don’t be too long.” Spencer winked, feathered a quick kiss on Ashley’s lips, and left for the gymnasium.
“Hurry up in there will you!” Ashley banged on the large door impatiently waiting for the brunette.
“Chiilllll- Oomph!” Kasey toppled over trying to jump into the over sized mascot costume.
Ten minutes later she emerged from within, sweat thoroughly glistened from her face as she held the giant foam head in her hands. Kasey wore a full body suit. From her finger tips to her toes, she was enveloped in thick foam. She wore a large plastic silver breast plate which held the letter KHT in its centre. The same lettering was found on the blue and black foam shin guards.
Kasey also bore a large blue cape that billowed behind her as she walked. The muscular arms and legs bulged on either side of her body causing Ashley to giggle. “I’d hate to be you right now.” She teased.
“Gee, thanks for the encouragement Ash.” Kasey rolled her eyes and flipped her off with a large foam finger.
Just then Ashley pulled a camera from her back pocket and quickly took a picture of the brunette who stood aloof before her. “What?! I doubt I’ll ever see you in a dress again!” Ashley taunted her, waving the camera in the air as Kasey tried to snatch it away unsuccessfully. A dress you ask? That’s the best way to describe what was hiding his legs from the waist down to just below his knees.

I thought I’d stop by and start by saying thank you. Not only for your kind words in essence to this chapter but to the entire story. Your comments throughout the entire account have been more than cherished.I’d also like to thank you for your heartfelt sympathies with regards to Annie. Unnecessary but utterly appreciated. Her passing isn’t so much a sad event anymore. She never would have wanted her friends and family to think about how or why she passed but instead of how she lived. I think that Kasey portrays her very well and I hope that I continue to do her justice in the next chapter…Enough of the mush and on to the next piece. =P
