You Only Live Once – Why Not Enjoy It – (Chapter: 13 – Tragedy Strikes)

Meanwhile, oblivious to the fact that his cousin was out cold Aiden celebrated in the locker room with the rest of his team.  It wasn’t until Glen called for him and explained what was happening that he rushed to the court to find his cousin sprawled out surrounded by panicking students.

He knelt next to Clay who kept a close eye on her vitals.  “What, what happened?”  He asked, in pain to see his cousin in such a state.  Her face was pale and humid; she was drenched in a cold sweat.  He knew exactly what triggered this collapse.

Just then the faint sound of sirens broke the eerie feeling within the gymnasium.  With great force the doors were swung open and quickly entered three paramedics wheeling a stretcher in Kasey’s direction.

“We’ll take over from here.”  A female paramedic gently pried Clay and Aiden away from Kasey’s seemingly lifeless body as the others worked to free her from her outfit.

Spencer shook with fear in Ashley’s arms as they watched the paramedic’s pry Kasey from her costume.  They lifted her limp body onto the stretcher clad in only her Stewie Griffin boxer’s and a black tank top.  Kyla stood aside staring blankly at the sight before her.  Glen slipped in and quietly hugged her from behind as her eyes rimmed with tears.  She was so confused.  Aiden on the other hand stayed next to his cousin, never leaving her side even as the paramedics rushed her outside to the awaiting ambulance.

“Her vitals are dropping.  Get ready to begin resuscitation.”   The same female paramedic called out as they lifted her into the vehicle.  They denied Aiden entrance as they fought to save Kasey’s life.

Aiden remained in a panic state.  He glanced at the frightened teens who had no idea what to expect.  “Someone, someone please drive me to the hospital…I have to get to the hospital!”  He yelled in desperation.

Ashley stepped forward with Spencer still in her arms.  “Let’s go, I’ll drive.”  Aiden, Spencer, Ashley, and Kyla managed to make it to the hospital within minutes.  They had already called Kasey’s father to inform him of the events.  He was on his way, closely followed by Madison, Glen, and Clay in another car.

    1. I thought I’d stop by and start by saying thank you. Not only for your kind words in essence to this chapter but to the entire story. Your comments throughout the entire account have been more than cherished.I’d also like to thank you for your heartfelt sympathies with regards to Annie. Unnecessary but utterly appreciated. Her passing isn’t so much a sad event anymore. She never would have wanted her friends and family to think about how or why she passed but instead of how she lived. I think that Kasey portrays her very well and I hope that I continue to do her justice in the next chapter…Enough of the mush and on to the next piece. =P
