“We wanted the timing to be right, not rush into things; we also didn’t want to jinx the relationship.”  Ashley replied noting the unusual silence that her sister had fallen into.  Kyla fidgeted nervously with the hem of her sweatshirt, she immediately knew something was bothering her.

“You may be right.”  Madison flipped the fish filets.

“Always am.  Hey Ky can you help with me something.”  The Davies sisters stood and entered Ashley’s tent.  Kyla was oblivious to the fact that her demeanor took such a drastic turn just a few moments ago.

“What’s up Ash?”  Kyla sighed inwardly still hearing the yells coming from Kasey and Spencer in the woods surrounding them.

“I could ask you the same thing.  What’s wrong Ky?  One minute you’re happy the next you’re quiet and keep your eyes locked on the ground.”  Ashley leaned back and eyed her sibling.

“Nothing’s wrong..”  Kyla remained still not meeting her sister’s gaze.  Ashley knew better than to let the subject fade away at the moment.

“Please don’t give me that.  I see that something’s wrong, let me help you.”  Ashley rubbed her sister’s knee urging her to confess what was bothering her.

The siblings have known each other for a little over three years now since their father’s untimely death.  Kyla tracked her sister down and from their first awkward interaction both have been there for each other through thick and thin.  Kyla moved to LA, away from her mother to be with her sister.  Promising never to abandon one another, Kyla and Ashley have worked double time to mend and reinforce their relationship.

Kyla sighed and finally locked eyes with her sibling.  “It’s…Well, Kasey has never mentioned those three words yet either and…”  She took a deep breath feeling ridiculous for making such a big deal out of this.  “I don’t know, I guess I’m making something out of nothing.”

Ashley smiled at her sister’s remark.  “Did you tell her how you feel?”

“No.  I always thought she’d be the first to say it you know.”  Kyla’s eyes remained fixed on her hands.  “Maybe you should.  She’s probably scared to say it first, I sure as hell was.”  Ashley confessed.
