“I’m gonna go check on her Spence.  I’ll be right back.”  Ashley left the living room and made her way to the second floor.

Upon reaching Kyla’s bedroom door, the girl wearily knocked before quietly pushing it open.  “What do you want?”  Kyla’s tone was bitter and angry.

“I want to know what’s wrong Ky.  You’ve been acting weird lately.”  Ashley cautiously entered the room and closed the door behind her.  “Please tell me what’s wrong.”

Kyla’s heart sank suddenly remembering the outburst from moments earlier.  Kasey didn’t deserve, no one did.  It wasn’t until earlier that day that she realized why she couldn’t control her emotions.  Should she tell Ashley?

The young brunette swallowed the lump in her throat and rubbed her eyes clean of any unshed tears.  Ashley placed a comforting hand over hers and squeezed in reassurance.  “Don’t worry Kyla, whatever it is we can fix it.”

“That’s the problem Ash, we can’t…I can’t…”  The familiar tingling sensation in her nose warned of oncoming tears.  “I can’t fix this…I screwed up.”  She choked.  Sitting up and hugging onto a pillow with her free hand, the girl took a deep breath.

Ashley remained by her side, hand softly gripping her sister’s in support.  “How did you screw up?  Tell me and we’ll think of something.”  She didn’t want to push the girl over the edge again.

“We can’t Ash!  Ok!  We can’t!”  A few stray tears clouded her eyes before spilling.  Kyla quickly wiped them away; ashamed of her actions.  “I…Ash…I’m…I’m pregnant.”  She swallowed hard, closing her eyes and waiting for the speech.

A few seconds passed without a word being said, both sisters in shock.  Ashley remained still as a statue, letting the words seep into her mind and quietly grasp onto the seriousness of the situation.  Her gaze was then focused on Kyla’s flushed cheeks before she brought a hand up to brush away the tears.  “Ky…”  The only word she had the courage to mumble.

“When did you find out?”  She finally asked as the younger Davies sibling who opened her eyes, still avoiding the older girl’s questioning glance.

“This morning.”  Kyla whispered.

“Who?”  Again, straight to the point.

“Eric.”

“Wow…I mean….”  Ashley was speechless.  She didn’t know if she should be happy, angry, frantic, sad…

“I screwed up Ash…  If Kasey ever finds out she’s going to hate me, we’ll be over.”  Her voice was weak.

“You don’t know how she’ll react, none of us do.  You have to trust her, trust that no matter what she’ll do what’s best for the both of you.”  Ashley squeezed her hand in support.

Ashley made the somber trek back to the living room an hour later.  She was tired; completely drained.  Spencer remained patient as ever, perched on the couch watching TV.

“Is she ok?”  The blonde asked, noticing her girlfriend enter the room.

Ashley nodded.  “She’s sleeping.”  The brunette sighed taking a seat on the sofa.

“Is everything alright?”  Spencer inquired, concerned for Kyla’s health and well being.

“Kinda…”  Ashley took this opportunity to explain the situation.  Spencer on the other hand could do nothing but stare and nod; shell-shocked by the recent developments.

….

“…And in a nutshell that’s it, she figured with all of the mood swings and her missing her…well you know, she should get tested…the doctor gave her the results this morning.  Voilà, she’s eight weeks pregnant.”
