“Hi.” Ashley greeted simply, squinting a brown eye at the girl, “Haven’t seen you around here before.”
“I’m new.” Spencer explained, her hands keeping her balanced on the smooth metal. She glanced over at her father, who was seated on a bench, just to make sure he was still there. Like most children, Spencer had a rather strong fear of abandonment. It wasn’t like she’d ever been left anywhere, but it only takes once.
“Where you from?” Ashley probed, shifting so she was facing her. She liked people who weren’t from LA, the other kids tended to be so snobby.
“Ohio.” Their conversation was simple and easy like only children’s can be. They exchanged names, discussed their flagrant hatred of homework, agreed on the icky-ness of boys, and even approached the topic of how tag at night was so much more fun than regular tag. Of course, this nirvana couldn’t last long.
“Spencer! We’ve got to go!” Arthur called from the ground, although he hated to break up the newly discovered friendship.
“That your dad?” Ashley questioned, jerking her chin towards the dark haired man. Spencer nodded in reply, looking disappointed that she’d have to go.
“Yeah… I have to leave….” She began to lower herself from the bars, moving sluggishly as she heaved a depressed sigh. Just when she was starting to make new friends, her dad had to come in and ruin everything.
“Well, I’m here almost every day…. My nanny really likes the park.” Ashley admitted with a small shrug, watching the blonde descend the bars, “So I guess I’ll see you around.”
Looking considerably cheered Spencer gave a vigorous nod, “Okay! Bye!” With that she dropped into the sand with a thud, smiling at her dad. As they walked away she tossed a glance over her small shoulder, waving goodbye to Ashley before turning back to her dad.
Well, it turned out Ashley hadn’t been exaggerating when she said she was there every day, and that summer Spencer would spend the majority of her time in Griffith Park, sharing her days with the equally enthusiastic brunette. Their relationship had easily blossomed into something more, and it seemed almost instantly they were best friends. There was really nothing they didn’t do together. There wasn’t a secret in the world that they didn’t share with each other, and no glance didn’t have some kind of meaning behind it. They had their own language (dubbed Spashlish), their own hand shake, and even their own secret meeting spot in the park. To say the least, they were inseparable.

so freaking cute i loved little ash and spence and the fact that they had no clue that being girlfriends was ‘wrong'(whatever not true) and the whole aiden/others kept saying they wre going to hell…pms this is good.

Ashley and Spencer are so cute together and I loved the way you wrote their innocence of being girlfriends. You are one of my favorite writers everything you write is awesome and this one was just as amazing. AWWWW,that was to touching! i really loned how u make the relationship based on their emotions and not like phisical stuff.but they were only like 10.man i wish i were that innocent at that age.LOL anyways this has got to be the sweetest and cutest story out there.i loved it!
