    A Different L: Episode 1 Part 1

In Hollywood, the media company known as CatCo is already hard at work gleaning and then feeding information to the rest of the modern world, from news to sports to fashion and entertainment, its owner, Cat Grant enters using her own personal elevator with Kara standing ready with Miss Grant’s cup that has somehow managed to have been kept warm by Kara while waiting. The elevator door opens and Cat walks in with her sunglasses still on.

Cat: Too many people standing around, you’re like a bunch of sad little statues I feel like I didn’t deserve to win, but did anyway. Please, move around. At least look like you’re doing something constructive and while you’re at it, do something constructive.

Kara has the tall cup ready to be presented. Cat accepts as she walks to her office.

    Cat: Very good, Kiera.

Kara smiles while looking down, wondering if Cat will ever get her name correct before shuffling off to her desk. At one of the nearby cubicles is Kara’s friend, Winn.

Winn: Kara, are you seeing this?

    Kara: Seeing wha-?

Using her advanced vision, Kara inspects Winn’s monitor which has an alert.

    Kara: Cover for me?

    Winn: As always.

    Kara: Thanks.

Kara quickly gets up from her desk as Cat fails to notice, busy checking her messages as well as receiving the same alert that Winn just did.

While Kara scurries away from her desk, Oliver and Felicity are in Oliver’s car. Oliver turns the music down as both he and Felicity hear an usual noise.

Felicity: I don’t think that’s the car, Ollie.

    Oliver: No, it isn’t.

While Oliver looks for a spot to pull over, Kara has made her way to the roof of the CatCo building, changing her clothes at a pace faster than a speeding bullet. Her attire is suddenly different and the glasses are gone for the moment. The identity of Kara Danvers has just changed into someone else with a red flowing cape and matching skirt with gold trim at the waist and red boots along with a dark blue leotard with an S insginia upon her chest and dark tights. She flies off toward the plane.

Oliver finds a spot on the side of the road to park. He and Felicity notice at the nearby sidewalk others looking on at something, their faces tilted upward. Getting out of the car, Oliver begins to inspect at the ground level, his instincts looking for the opportunistic thief while ignoring an airplane that appears to have a damaged engine in peril. Felicity however does notice the plane as well as another sight.

    Felicity: Ollie?

    Oliver looks at Felicity.

Felicity: Look! Up in the sky!

Oliver sees her flying to the plane.

    Oliver: That’s not a bird.

Felicty: No, but that’s a plane.

Oliver: I don’t mean the plane. I mean Supergirl.

She is Kara Zor-El, the last daughter of the doomed planet Krypton. On Earth, she is known as Kara Danvers, an employee at CatCo, but to the world at large Kara is only a secret identity to the one that looks to save the imperiled commercial airliner from disaster, that being Supergirl. Oliver, Felicity, and many others from the ground level look up as Supergirl is able to catch the plane at the just proper angle and speed to not cause anymore damage, guiding it to just off the Pacific Coast for an as safe as possible water landing.

The plane is in danger of falling apart, but Supergirl is able to guide it safely as it touches down near a beach full of stunned people. Realizing what has just happened, the crowd roars with approval, as do the people inside the plane itself which Supergirl is quick to notice. She smiles to the people looking on and flies off.

Back at CatCo a moment later, Supergirl has managed to change back into Kara Danvers who walks nervously while adjusting her glasses. She notices her boss, Cat already giving instructions to her news department which includes James Olsen, another of Kara’s friends. James looks through the glass wall of Cat’s office and sees Kara, offering a quick congratulatory smile to the hero that just saved the day. Kara is joined by Winn.

Winn: Gotten used to the name yet?

Kara: I still say “Superwoman” would have been better, but hey… Cat’s good at branding.

Winn: Oh, after you left, one of the other metahumans showed up to help those who couldn’t swim to shore.

Kara: Dammit. I knew I forgot something.

Winn: It’s cool. The Flash took care of it. Still, keeping the plane from crashing-

    Kara: Winn?

Kara just grins politely as a reminder to how few people know the truth about her being Supergirl.
