    Kit and Bette talk, but Kit does not get her way.

    Once the decision had been made to accept Peggy’s offer, everything else fell into place. Bette did not wish to make a grand production of her departure, and as a matter of fact, chose just to tell Kit and the rest of her family. Her father was very happy for her and looked at this as a huge resume building opportunity. Kit on the other hand could not understand her decision to go. She was deeply hurt by it. She felt that deep down, Bette and Tina belonged together and she questioned Bette’s dedication in trying to get Tina back. Bette patiently explained to Kit that she felt that she done all that she could and no matter how often she tried, no matter what she said, Tina simply was not in a place to accept anything that Bette had to offer in terms of apologies or reconciliation attempts. Kit mumbled that she understood, but tried one last time to get Bette to reconsider.

     

    “You know that she still loves you” Kit tried to reason.

     

    “Sadly, I actually don’t, and therein lies the problem, Kit. If anyone had told me before all of this ***** began that there would ever come a time that I would question Tina’s love for me, I would have laughed at their insanity. Now, not only am I questioning her love for me, but I am fairly confident that it no longer exists. How in the world do you expect me to possibly have a chance at getting Tina back if I don’t even know that she still loves me? Loves me” Bette sarcastically chuckled to herself.   “*****, I’d settle for liking me.”

     

    “Baby girl, you have to see that she is hurting and is just trying to protect herself” she tried to reason.

     

    “Protect herself? Protect herself?” she moaned as she threw her hands in the air.  “Jesus, Kit. Do you not hear what you are saying? You are saying that the woman that I am to try and get back, a woman that you claim still loves me, is trying to protect herself. Protect herself from me!  Do you not see how fucked up that is?” screamed Bette.

     

    “I see that that is the way that you are viewing this situation” Kit calmly responded.  “I see that it is how you are justifying your departure to New York. I see that you have moved on and are at the same time trying to convince yourself that she does not want you.”

    1. I think bette is doing the only thing she can do start over.Maybe she should tell her friends but they would try to talk her out of it and they would tell tina. They both need time alone.Plus bette is right tina did play a part in the end of the relationship. REALLY GOOD!

    2. I like, It makes sense Tina’s dating someone else has told Bette to get loss more or less hanging on sometimes can make people go loco this is just one battle and the war is yet to be fought.     3. Thanks skipton! Great conversation between Bette & Kit. I was surprised that Bette did not mention to Tina that she was leaving when they talked at the Planet, but it is not like Tina gave her the opportunity. I wish Tina would find out before Bette left. Either way, can’t wait to see Tina’s reaction when she does find out about NY.

I too agree with how well you have written this and I too agree Bette is doing the right thing by making a clean break…Tina is being her usual whiny, selfish self and some of that is Bette’s doing, but overall she is still a child…not condoning Bette’s actions but Tina was more than cold and Bette has a life to live…she is taking an opportunity not running away to find a place to hide…excellent girl…outstanding!!! 10!
