6 Months- chapter 9
Bette had not thought much of LA. She never had the time. Her day started at 6:00 am where she would go downstairs to the gym, work out for an hour, come back up to the apartment, have a light breakfast, shower, dress and then get to the gallery by 8am. She was one of the first ones there and it gave her some time to look over the construction progress and figure out what the day’s challenges were going to be.
She had not had time to question if she had made the right decision in coming to New York. She had not pondered whether or not she was happy, and thoughts of Tina were becoming fewer and fewer. Maybe she should take all of this as something good. The fact that she was not questioning her happiness should be a good sign, right?
She had no social life to speak of and did not actively search for one. She really knew very few people in NY and had no interest in going to any of the clubs. She knew that once the gallery opened and she was able to move about more freely in terms of getting exhibits and artists booked, she would have more freedom to interact with people. As it was now, her world consisted of construction workers, James, Ansley and some limited time with Peggy, and she was ok with that. Back in the days of her relationship with Tina, Bette was never the one to set their social calendar; she just went where she was told. Tina had taken care of all of that and Bette never had to think about making friends. Here, things were obviously different. Bette knew that when the time came, she would turn on the charm and have people back in her life. For now though, it was all about getting the gallery opened.
At night, she fell into bed, usually content with the day that she had just had. If there were a time that she thought more about Tina, it would be then. She had never gotten used to sleeping alone, and she missed having Tina’s body there to curl up with. She certainly missed their ***** life, well, when it had been good, but most of all, missed feeling her body next to hers as she fell asleep. She wondered at times if she would ever truly get over Tina. She wondered if she would ever get used to sleeping alone. Not being able to share her day with Tina killed her, but sadly, she was getting more and more used to it.
As she lay in bed about to dose off, she would wonder if Tina was doing all right. She was sincere when she told her that day at The Planet, that she wished her nothing but the best. The comment that Kit had made about Tina looking defeated did worry her though. She knew that it was no longer her place to wonder, but could not stop herself from doing so anyway. She hoped that the relationship with Shannon, if it was what Tina wanted, was working out. She had come a long way in her acceptance of a life without Tina, but still found it difficult to stomach.
She rolled over to her side, looked out at all of the skyscrapers that she could see from her window, and hoped for Tina to find strength. She hoped that she would be able to some day forgive Bette so that they could both get on with their lives.
In the meanwhile, she would sleep, and hope that Tina had found some rest also.

another good chapter.
This is my first time commenting on a fanfic story. I could not resist leaving a comment about this story. I love how you have remained true to the characters of B&T. I’m on edge, waiting to see Tina’s reaction to Bette’s leaving. Great story!!! Keep the chapters coming!!!!!

You have spoiled me with all these chapters in a row. I really like the freshness of this story. Bette seems to be adjusting. Hurray! NO angst!
Thank you and more!
Good God!! Tell them already!! You’re killing me with this…but I am loving every minute of it!! :)
Wow another chapter. This is really good. As a T&B fan I was prepared for them not to get back together, but there’s a glimmer of hope. I will be happy either way. Keep them coming.
This story continues to rock!
i just caught up with your story and i love it, keep the posts coming. Really excited to see where you are going to take this. I’m a B & T fan, so I do hope you bring these two back together.
Wait for you to send the letters waiting on the girls reaction.
Bette doesn’t seem as down as I believe she would be. Sometine the bed needs to be left unmade,Tina made hers to quickly. Good job on this chapter.
