    6 Months- chapter 92

“Remember when I came back from the bathroom and we were about done with dinner?” she asked, now watching her hand tracing invisible lines on Bette’s stomach.

“Yeah” said Bette, not knowing what Tina was leading up to.

“Well, I asked you if you still wanted to go out.”

“Uh huh” said Bette, clearly recalling the conversation.

“And you said that you did.”

“Right” said Bette, just following along.

“Cause you wanted to dance with me” she said, looking up at Bette to see if any of this was registering with her.

“Right and I believe that that’s exactly what we did” smiled Bette as she leaned up and gave Tina a kiss on the lips.

Placing her hand on Bette’s shoulder, Tina pushed her back down on the bed.

    “I’m not done” she said.

Seeing Tina clearly not happy about something, Bette said, “T, baby, just say it.  What’s the matter?  I mean, what did I do wrong?” confusion evident on her face.

“It’s not that you did something wrong, Bette, I just, you said something that I don’t understand” she tried to explain.

    “What did I say?”

“Actually, it’s more like what you didn’t say.”

“Ok, what didn’t I say?” asked Bette, beginning to get frustrated with this conversation.

“You said that you would love to have the chance to dance with myand then stopped.”

“I said that I wanted to have the chance to dance with you” said Bette, now getting what Tina was trying to explain.

“After you stumbled over your choice of words” she said, looking at Bette directly in the eyes, challenging her to say it wasn’t true.

“T, baby, look, this really isn’t important.  It was just-”

“What were you going to say?” interrupted Tina.

    “What?” asked Bette.

“What were you going to say before you chose not to complete that sentence, Bette?  My what?  You would love the chance to dance with my what?”

Bette looked up at Tina and could not believe the ferocity with which Tina was communicating these questions.  She knew that she had slipped over her words earlier, but not enough to elicit this kind of response from Tina.

    1. Hello skipton: Excellent as Always. You are able to articulate these two women so well with such conviction. I am looking forward to seeing them finally come back fully complete.

    2. This is the first chapter I read of this fic and I just realized that I have.. what, 91 chapters to catch up on!!! Woo hoo, goodbye boredom!

I loved your story and I LOVED seeing Bette and Tina acting in such a mature way. This chapter is so full of promises and hope.

      Great work! =D

    3. thanks willowr. they did act in a mature way. i sure needed that.

SKIPTON – there is a god in heaven smiling down on me. you posted. i cant tell you how my heart and soul needed to read this piece of beauty. you are truly amazing with your words and thoughts. its breathtaking. please post as soon and as often as you can. you are sorely missed when you dont. thank you thank you thank you.

    4. Wonderful job as always…your ability to create meaningful dialogue that’s so true to the characters is part of what makes your writing such a pleasure to read. Thanks for the many posts this week, you’ve been missed.

    5. I’ve figured out what makes this story distinctive (besides your skillful writing), and what I really like about it: This is an Adult story, told by mature, adult women. Your B&T most closely approximate the characters’ ages on the show.

I am so comfortable with the ease with which they live in their own skins. They’ve been in their skins for a while, and it shows.

Am I making myself clear here?

Okay, then. Carry on with your bad self, and post another chapter this weekend!

      Thanks!

    6. Loving the updates!! I’m just a hopeless romantic, and being nuts about Bette (and Tina) this is just right up my alley. Between Jwet, Seahurst and Yourself, waiting for S3 to come back on is now bearable! Please post as soon as you can! THANKS again!

    7. I agree with Techgal that I appreciate the maturity of your Bette and Tina and I found this conversation between them moving and thought provoking. Personally, I don’t like to use the term “wife” – it has a lot of chauvanistic baggage to me. However, T makes a good case for what it means to her and them, and if two women can take the word and give it their own power then I say “good for them.” Phew – long winded there, sorry.
I liked this chapter very much, by the way, and thanks for being so prolific this week.

    8. Skipton,
      Fantastic!
The honesty that these women are now able to sharing is heartwarming. Your dialogue expertly captures the true and open feelings that course through these characters.
Bette admitting her reluctance in calling Tina her wife shows how much she has grown and this is equally matched by Tina’s insistence that they face it together.
An avid follower of your work so please post again as I called express in mere words alone my delight in this continuing drama.
It feels like Christmas morning whenever I see a new post as I get the satisfaction of opening a new chapter and seeing what unfolds.
      Your Loyal Fan.

    9. This will be my 1st comment on the entire story so far. I spent the weekend reading it. Skip, you have done an outstanding job. You caused me to become breathless several times this weekend. ;)

      Wonderful writing….

    10. Beautiful chapter, Skip. Thanks for answering my question! :) I’m glad that Bette and Tina are in this together. Together they will get through anything.

    11. Skipton, I just spent the lasttwo days reading this story again from the beginning. The range of emotions that you had these two going through was incredible. I’m glad to see that you are continuing this wonderful story.

    12. Skip, your story is always so gratifying to read. There is such a realism to their shared struggle to put the pieces in their proper place. Forgivness, whether given or sought takes two to achieve. I like that even though it’s a tough subject for them and that they might have differing opinions on how to proceed, they were never bombastic towards each other. Beautifully infused with tenderness and love. Thank you.

    13. WOW! Techgal really hit the nail on the head with her comments. Your ability to be true to these characters is what draws us again and again.

      LOVE IT!

    14. I knew that I had a problem by the 34th chapter, but I didn’t seek help. Yes, this story had becom an addiction. Yesterday was my first day off from work in almost seven months. What did I spend it doing? Reading all 92 chapters of this story. It took 22 hours. After all, I had to sleep and eat. Now I have completely caught up with the story that I only just discovered existed yesterday morning.
Thanks Skipton for an amazing read. I can clearly see why you are an award winner. I absolutely loved it. Your latest post sounded like a finale. If so I am in serious trouble.
