    Tina meeets Bette’s friends and her sister Kit

    Bette emerged very slowly from her deep sleep and reached across the bed over Tina’s side. But her space was empty. Bette stretched and glanced at the alarm clock. 11:07. God, she must have been tired to sleep this late. She smiled as she remembered last night with Tina. There was so much love between them, it was almost unbelievable that they’d only known each other a very short time.

     

    She heard Tina’s voice coming from the living room. «She must be talking on the phone», Bette though as she got out of bed. She put on a white pyjama bottom and a white tank top and headed to the kitchen to make coffee. She gave Tina a very loving smile and her baby smiled right back. It was so nice to start the day with Tina right there in her house. Their home…

     

    «No, it’s OK, I won’t bring her, I promised. Yeah, I wrote it down, 12:30 at the airport. I’ll be there. I love you Mom…», Tina said before hanging up.

     

    «What’s up?», Bette asked.

    «My parents changed their flight and they’ll be leaving today instead of tomorrow. They have to be at the airport by 12:30».

     

    Bette brought a cup of coffee to Tina and sat next to her. She stroked her back very gently, sensing by the tone of her voice that Tina was upset by something. «And they don’t want me to come with you…», Bette stated.

     

    «No. My mother said and I quote «Your father and I aren’t ready to meet your lady friend yet». Why can’t she say girlfriend ?», Tina asked, looking into Bette’s eyes.

     

    «I’m sure they don’t mean to hurt you baby. They have to get used to the idea that you’re with a woman now… Give them a little more time, they’ll come around», Bette told her. On the outside, Bette seemed calmed about the whole thing, but she was scared to death that Tina would walk out on her because of all the complication she brought into her life.

     

    «I know what you’re thinking baby…», Tina said in a soft tone.

     

    «You do ?»

     

    «You think I’ll turn my back on you because I can’t deal with everything that’s involved with being in a lesbian relationship». Tina took Bette’s hand in hers and ran her thumbs across Bette’s fingers. «It won’t be easy, I know, but I never really knew the meaning of love before I met you Bette. I’ve only known you for a short while, but I can’t imagine my life without you, without you loving me. That would be even harder on me than dealing with what people think. I realise that now…»

    7. I love finding an update on this story. Also love how Tina has things about Bette figured out so soon, it will just be a short time before Bette realizes that she can’t hide anything from Tina. Hopefully her parents come around. Too funny with Alice, thinking she stood a chance when Tina came in.
