    Chapter 14

     

    Porter Valley Country Club:

    Bette arrives in a very good mood. She starts her lessons, first up is an old married couple. Theyre learning about putting today. So Bette can actually show them, because it doesnt include twisting her leg. Between lessons she goes over to the tennis area to watch Dana train. And before she knows it its one oclock. Then her cell phone rings.

    Hi, Tee. Bette says and smiles.

    Hi, babe, Ill be there in 10 minutes. I had to drive down town with some pictures from yesterday. Tina replies.

    Thats okay, Ill meet you out in the parking lot. Bette says and they hang up.

    Bette walks outside and takes a seat on a bench next to the parking lot. And after about 7 minutes, Tinas black BMW turn into the lot and parks.

    Bette walks over and opens the door for Tina to step out, and give her a kiss on the lips.

    Hi. Tina says and kisses back.

    Hi, youve had a busy day? Bette asks.

    Yeah, so far, but now Im gonna relax the rest of the day with you. Tina smiles and takes Bettes hand. They walk inside.

    Are you ready for this? Bette asks

    Yeah, I think so, are you? Tina asks back.

    I dont think Ill ever be ready for this, so I might as well get it over and done with, right? Bette smiles and squeezes Tinas hand a little.

    They walk up to Bettes mothers office and knocks.

    Come in. She says from the inside. Bette slowly opens the door. She let go of Tinas hand.

    Hi mom Bette says and smiles.

    Hi Bette She replies.

    This is Tina Kennard. Bette says looking at her mother for any kind of reaction.

    And Tina, this is my mother Maxine Porter. Bette says and smiles a little.

    Hi, its nice to meet you. Tina says and smiles.

    Its nice to meet you too. Maxine replies.

    Tina is nervous and Maxine notices it.

    You dont have to be nervous. Maxine says and smiles.

    Tina sighs of some relief and so does Bette.

    So mom, will you join us for lunch? Bette asks.

    Yes, Id like that. Maxine says and smiles. Ill join you in a few minutes. Maxine says.

      I just love this story… and love the pace… and i love that when ever bette says tee it means i love you… hmmm wish i would have thought if it…

      Well, well, I was naïve before believing in Bette’s mother’s relative understanding. Unfortunately, this sort of reaction must happened very often in life…
      What a treacherous way to let her daughter think everything will be ok, when in fact she already prepared Greg’s come back and inquisitive questions for Tina…
      As others, I’m so proud and happy about Bette’s vehement reaction – something I would have also wished to see with Melvin, in Season 1.

      Marvellous work, Lauren ! … how do you say “congratulations” in Norwegian ?
