“It’s really far away right Momma?”

“It’s far from here but it’s not too far from your Uncle James’ house and Aunt Lisa is going to stay in a hotel really close to the camp so the counselor can call her if any of you get really scared. But I don’t think you will. You will have so much fun stuff to do in the daytime and at night you will all sleep in the same cabin. Aunt Lisa met the camp counselor and she said that she is very nice. She’s really looking forward to meeting you, Sophie, Suzie and Jackie. Her name is Chelsea and she went to the camp when she was a little girl so she knows everything about all the fun places to go and the fun things to do.”

“Can we go swimming?”

“Sure they will have swimming in the lake and they will take you in a canoe for a boat ride. They will teach you how to ride horses, and you can play sports like volleyball, or basketball, or soccer. You can also do music and play instruments, or you can do acting in a play. They have bike riding or you can discover things on a walking trail. At night they build a big camp fire and you can toast marshmallows and sing songs or tell stories. You can even do arts and crafts. Maybe you can paint a picture or make something for Mommy and I.”

“I can make you a present.” Angie says bright eyed listening to all the fun stuff they do at the camp and imagining all the possibilities.

“We would love that. We want you to have fun OK, and we’ll see you on the weekend because everybody is going to come to yours and Aunt Alice’s birthday party. Suzie’s moms, Jackie’s moms, Aunt Lisa, Uncle James, Joey, Zach, Aunt Kit, Aunt Shane, Ms. Leigh, your mommy and me; all of us are going to come up for the birthday. We’ll have cake, and burgers and hot dogs on the grill. We’re going to play games, go horseback riding, and we can build a campfire at night and tell stories too. Aunt Alice wants to sleep in a tent so we’ll let her, but the rest of us are going to sleep in the lodge on comfortable beds, in rooms with air conditioning and no bugs.”
