    To Love

     

                Bette was still angry but forced herself to soften her stance. “You don’t have to get started tonight. Why are you rushing off?”

     

                Helena looked at her then.  The anger was still there and it was clear that if she did not fulfil her assignment Bette would strip her of her wealth but the message was clear as long as Helena did not cross the line again it was over.

     

                To hold on to a scrap of dignity she turned to Leigh. “Do you want to stay awhile longer honey?”

     

                “I’d like that.” Leigh took Helena’s hand and the tension drained.

               

                The kids exited the pool en masse and devoured food.  They were oblivious of the details but found the adults much more indulgent than usual.  Angelica climbed into Tina’s lap and looked at Mama.

     

                “Did you show Mom your surprise?” Angelica asked. She figured she had since they were holding hands and they didn’t usually do that Mom must be happy with it. 

     

                Bette shook her head and gave Angelica a look. 

     

                “Oops.” Angelica covered her mouth. 

     

                “Surprise?” Tina looked from one Porter to the other. 

     

                “I wanted to show you in person.” Bette apologized. “Excuse us a minute,” she told the others as she moved away with Angelica and Tina. She pulled out her Blackberry and scrolled through the pictures until she found the one she was looking for.  She silently handed it to Tina.

     

                Tina took one look and knew that it was the same one she had used with Angelica. 

     

                “How did you find it?”  She gasped.

     

                “There are really not that many used tanks in the area. I saw it and I knew it was the same one.  Is it ok with you?”

     

                “I think it’s wonderful.  This time the entire birth will be at home.”

     

                “So you don’t mind sharing the tank with you brother?” Tina asked Angelica knowing Angelica had some trepidation about a brother.

     

                “As long as he doesn’t make a mess it’s fine.” Angelica smiled. “Mama said it would help make him like a son to you if she got this tank so I agreed to let her use the same one you used for me. I’m sorry I spoiled the surprise.” 

     

                “It’s ok Angel.” They both told her.

     

                “We have a surprise for you too.” Tina told her. Angelica’s face brightened. “Mama and I have decided to live together again.”

     

                “Like all the time?” Angelica couldn’t believe it. Her bright eyes shone like saucers.

     

                “Yes, Boo, all the time.” Bette answered.

     

                “Yippee.”  Angelica began to dance around.  “When?”

     

                “Now.”

     

                “Where?”

     

                “Here and there until we decide.”

     

                “Thank you.” She kissed them both. “I’ve got to tell Stella and Kim. I’ve got a whole family too.” 

     

                   Kit, Angus, Laura and even Jenny showed up for the impromptu festivities. At around 9:30 Gina and Fran told the brood of children to get ready to go home.  Angelica no longer worried about Mama asked if she could spend the night at Stella’s after all.  Fran and Gina were more than happy to have her. 

     

                Before they left Theresa asked everyone to gather around for a toast. 

     

                “To Love.” She said meeting Bette’s eyes telling her that Rosanna would approve of her command being honoured especially in this case.

     

                “To Love they all repeated.”

    8. honda90 is right I am so glad Bette had Ro she was there for the season and reason so Bette could be guided back to her lifetime with Tina. Most people think you meet people randomly, but I have always had a strong belief that we meet the people we are ment to at certain stages of our lives so that we make the decisions that make us the people we are ment to be. I often think I should have done such and such when I was younger, but then I would not have the beautiful daughter and many friends that mean the world to me that I have now. This was a beautiful chapter pps.

    10. Kelika, this chapter was wonderful and I am so happy they have decided to become one again. Bless Helena’s heart she did take her life in her hands and she knew it going in that she would incur the wrath of our raven-haired beauty but she was very very brave and foolish but took the chance seeing that was the only thing that would move them off high center. So happy she took action. Knowing Bette after she gets off her high horse she will eventually thank Helena for taking the action. Thanks for a wonderful chapter and getting “our girls” back together. PPS

    11. I know that you will let us have a few chapters for them getting back together in the only way that these two know so well how to do, an NC-17 please, giving birth and a new commitment ceremony with both children and extended family before you end it. Pretty Please, with cherries on top.
