“You can leave him at the beach house tomorrow.”
“Okay that sounds good…I love you and I’ll see you tomorrow babe.”
“I love you too.” As Tina said this Bette heard her father clear his throat.
“Oh and babe give Eli a hug and a kiss for me and tell him goodnight for me.”
“I will babe and promise me that you’ll try to relax when you get home. No thinking about work until tomorrow.”
“I promise T, I love you…bye”
Bette turned back towards her father, and her eyes widened when she saw that Nero was sniffing her father. Normally Bette would rush over but Bette couldn’t help but laugh at how funny her father looked with Nero. When Melvin heard his daughter laughing at him he acted like Nero wasn’t there. “Is everything alright?”
Bette sat across from her father and Nero sat down by her. “Tina had some car trouble so she can’t drive back until tomorrow.”
Melvin nodded thoughtfully. “I can see how much you love her. I could see it in your eyes when you talked about her and her son and I could hear it in your voice just now as you spoke to her…” Melvin sighed, “I will consider what you’re asking of me.”
“Thank you. I love you daddy but I can’t come to see you until you have an answer for me. Either you treat Tina and Eli like family or we can no longer have a relationship. I need you to be 100% certain because I won’t allow you to treat my family the way you treated Tina in the past.”
Melvin stood up, “I see that I have a lot to consider and I will adhere to your conditions.”
Bette had walked Melvin to the door. “Thank you for listening, I know you detest ultimatums but I have to consider what’s best for my family first. I love you daddy and I want you in our life…I just hope you make the right decision.”
Bette hugged her father, and said their goodbyes. Bette waited outside until her father’s driver helped him into his car.
Bette looked a little despondent when she walked back inside. She had finally stood up to her father, surprisingly she felt liberated. Speaking to her father was the first test to her and Tina’s new relationship. She felt great that she followed through on her promise to Tina and Eli, but a part of her was worried that she might lose her father. She hoped that wouldn’t be the case but she felt confident that whatever Melvin’s decision she would still have her family’s love and support. Bette took a deep breath as she pushed off the front door to pack some clothes. A smile graced her face as she thought about the woman she loved and the son she hoped to call her own.

I am glad Bette finally told Melvin how she felt. I am happy there was no San Diego drama with Tina. Love Nero. I can’t wait for B&T to finaly be together…I am sure it will be hot.

Finally Bette stood up to her father. I know how difficult that is for Bette, but she now knows how important it is to have Tina and Eli in her life. Loved the little teaser that you gave us at the beginning of the chapter.

Great update as always. Bout time Bette stood up to her father. Please make sure Bette keeps in mind that Tina can handle things, and be careful of not trying to handle things for her. I’m soooooooooooooooo looking forward to those two actually hooking up. Too cute about Bette being worried about Eli hearing.
Amazing post once again Toribio!!!! I loved the little heated ‘thing’ on the couch between B&T, so cute and realistic…………and the things Bette told Melvin was spot-on, really great writing. BUUUUT now you can’t hold that NC-17 back much longer LOL and I can’t wait. Post soon, I’m addicted.

I was kinda hoping that Tina and Eli would be arriving during Bette’s tirade to her father, thus hearing how she stood up to him for her family’s sake, but well, whatever direction you’re taking is great with me, so… I thought you did a great job with Melvin. Leaving some hopes about his decision while still having him in character. Well done! Loved the teaser, that’s very promising for the real thing ya know…;) This ending has me look forward to the reunion between B&T, so please post soon (with all due respect for your school work, it’s great enough to have you share this wonderful story!) GREAT update, I like most am glad that Bette finally stood up to Melvin and I believe that Melvin will make the right choice. I can hardly wait until Tina finds out, oh yeah it will be “T” time for Bette. I am looking to Eli meeting Melvin and standing up tall for both his mom and Bette. Poor Bette is soooooo missing her family that are trapped in San Diego while she is home alone. PPS :o)
