Bette happily drove to Alice’s house, because things between her and Tina were going great. She felt more secure now that they had a plan in place, but now she had a lot to do and not much time to do it. She trusted James to handle the gallery after the opening she planned on helping James transition to running the gallery on a regular basis but she wanted to fly to New York with Tina. A week wasn’t long enough to get everything in order and as she was thinking this through. She figured that she would probably have to stick around for awhile after Tina was gone. Her house would have to go on the market and then there was their old house should she continue to renting it out or would Tina want to sell that as well….maybe she would want to move back there, although in all the time Tina had been in LA she hadn’t once asked to go visit their old house. As Bette thought about the possibility of moving back to their first home she wasn’t sure if it was a viable option…starting over in a new home sounded very appealing the old house held a lot of good memories but she didn’t want any of those bad memories to touch her new life.

As Bette was pulling into Alice and Dana’s driveway she shook the bad thoughts out and her smile that seemed to be plastered on her face all day returned. She knew that she’d get ribbed by Alice and may be asked a few questions about her night with Tina but she was picking up Eli and then she’d be returning to Tina there was nothing that could bring her mood down. As she was walking up the driveway she heard Nero barking in the backyard and Jack laughing she was predicting that her nephew was going to twist his parents’ arm so he could get a dog in the near future.

As soon as she rang the doorbell a flustered Alice quickly swung the door open. “It’s about damn time babe…”

Clearly she wasn’t expecting Bette because her eyes became very wide and quickly returned to normal as she nervously chuckled. “Hey Porter I didn’t expect you so soon it’s kind of early.”

    1. I more that like it, I love it, as for your authors note toribio, in the last post I thought it was so nice of Bette to ask Eli for his blessing, it did not come across to me that Bette needed Eli’s permission to marry Tina, when it comes down to it, it is your story, you should tell it the way that you want to tell it..I for one think you are doing a great job. Thank you.

    2. This story is so great. So glad that Eli and Bette gets alone so well. But Eli is Tina son and so much like her ,so Eli would love Bette like his Mom does. thanks

    3. I just love this story. It’s just a great story, interesting and relaxing w/not too much drama. I like drama w/i relationships but not illness or injury drama.

    4. Toribio, still loving this tory. You show the girls the way they should be, happy and in love. Eli dropped a bombshell and that was a great way to introduce another child into their relationship w/o either of them doing so. Now all they have to do is decide who carries it. Have not been able to comment lately but I have been reading and enjoying everything. As M99 said, Bette did not need his permission and I too saw it as just getting his blessing. We love the way you are telling the story, please continue and don’t let the negatives bother you, it is your story after all. Thank you so very much for it.

    5. this just occurred to me, if pixy stix are still those short paper tubes of candy powder, there is probably less than 1/8 tsp in one..how many hundreds would Eli have to eat to get that sick???

    6. Continuing to love this story, toribio! I want some pixie sticks now… Such love and a sweet story! Glad you could post a nice, long chapter! Carry on as you are led, since you’re doing a great job here!

    7. Love this story. I thought Bette was being very resptful about asking Eli about marrying Tina, its great they keep him involved. I wanta read everything that happens in NY, and then when they get back to La, Baby births, Kids marrying,, Grandchildren……Course if you have the time !

    8. Eli is an awesome kid. I love that he is a “straight to the point” young man. Bette was so sweet taking care of him with his upset stomach….awwww…so fucking cute. I can’t wait until Tina heads back to NY for Eli and Bette to get closer in their relationship. As far as Tina meeting Melvin….that should be interesting. I think Melvin wants to be a part of Bette’s life again. Hopefully, Tina will set the ground rules for Melvin and how he will treat her son. I would hate for Melvin to think he has any say in how Tina raises Eli. I think if he did try to put his two cents in…he would see a real defensive, maternal Tina, that he would definately not like. Us Moms are bitches when we think are kids might get harmed, physically or emotionally. PPS.

    9. Hey I was ecstatic to see a post from you and after reading it I’m definitely not disappointed. I love this stuff and the plans you’re making with our favourite ladies, little man and hopefully the cutest little baby girl :o)) I hope you’ll write about the moving to and from New York, the wedding at the beach and of course the extension of the family. There are enough stuff to keep you writing for years LOL. Post as soon as possible.

    10. You write what ever pops into your head and I will read it. I like the plans that they are making. I also like how Bette asked for Eli’s imput about the wedding and moving to NY and back to LA. A bady is good but with Tina struggling with Eli’s birth is it now Bette’s turn to have the baby and add to the family?

    11. Oh i loved this! And 5 pages what a treat. You tell this story so well and at a realistic pace. You covered so much but still had us wondering why you stopped…lol. I think Bette having a baby to add to the family is a wonderful idea. Even if she is a little older we see medical marvels daily…besides she wouldn’t be THAT old…I mean look at the JB she had her baby in her 40’s. Keep posting.

    12. This is awesome and love the way Bette and Eli have, Tina,Bette and Eli will be happy and wonderful as a family. Ok let see the meeting of Tina and Melvin and let see whats next, thanks!

    13. If only every child was like Eli. I love this story more and more with each chapter, and you made the possibility of the storylines endless. Which is okay by me as long as you keep them happy and going the way they are. Now I can’t wait for Bette to propose, and what about another baby. Love how Eli drops the bomb shells and then walks away. Pixy Stix, loved them but man that was like pouring sour sugar down your throat.

    14. This is a fantastic story and trust me, your pace is great! Eli reminds me of my 10 year old son, who people tell me “he was here before.” Its great to see Bette and Eli getting along and great that he trust her just like he trust his mom. A lot of ‘step’ parents forget to involve the children in any decision and it makes for some difficult times. Can’t wait for the opening, the move, proposal and babies.

    15. Wonderful story. Just love the long chapters. To have the love that Bette and Tina share, and a great kid to go along with that, what more could one ask for? Post soon, please.

    16. I watched “The Breakfast Club” earlier and Ally Sheedy dumping pixy stix on her sandwich (YUCK!) made me want some of those. I like the blue and the red. So anyway that was a major bombshell. lol LMAO@heartburn! I have acid reflux so those Tums Dana bought wouldn’t do me a bit of good.

    17. Eli is such a sweet boy i love him! I like it so much the role like mother of Bette she loves Eli so much, i hope the talk between Tina and Melvin will be ok. Thanks for the post and don’t worry we will waiting for the next one take your time

    18. I’m with the others about this story being so relaxing. Every single time, you just drag us into Eli’s little universe where life is just so amazing, and at the end of each chapter, it’s just like waking up from a wonderful dream: You just wish you could stay there forever! And Bette with Eli when he was sick? Fabulous, and so in character that Eli, who is so mature and proud would cuddle to Bette, the only one with his mom! So meaningful, thanks for the sweet picture. Oh, and at the end, I could totally picture Eli’s smirk while saying “It’s about time”… Priceless! Toribio, this is amazing, can’t wait for the next post!
