“She’s in New York, left this morning she travels a lot there on business”

“I hope I don’t make things awkward between the two of you” Bette said keeping her eyes down staring at her coffee

“No, no you don’t, I told her we were going to try and be friends again” Tina replied

“Was she ok with that?”

Tina shrugged her shoulders

“I really didn’t give her a choice” Tina smiled

And so did Bette

Bette looked at her watch and realized they had spent over 2 hours already eating and having lunch.

“Wow, look at the time, don’t you have to go back to the office?” Bette asked

“I really should I have so much work to do.”

“Come on, let me go settle the check “Bette said as she got up

They met at the front door.

“I have to meet with the realtor in 1 hour to sign some more papers” Bette said as they walked towards the parking lot

“How’s that going?” Tina asked

“It’s going, my place in New York is already in escrow getting ready to close, but unfortunately it’s still going to be about another 2-3 weeks before things get settled here another 2-3 weeks before Tim is done with renovations, I hate living out of a suit case and its not cheap living in that fancy hotel I may just have to down grade to a motel until I get into my own place” Bette said

“What about moving back into the house with Melvin, or kit it’s only temporary” Tina said

“You know me and Melvin we have our differences besides he’s still a little disappointed that I decided to come back here and open my own Gallery, he thinks it’s a bad career move for me, I should have ridden out my success at the Whitney or moved on to one of the other job offers, and well Kits place is too small and you know me I have to travel with 20 cases of clothes and shoes I would drive her crazy.” Bette laughed

“Wait, what other job offers?”

Well after the success I had with the Provocations Showing I had offers from the Tate Modern in London and the Louvre in France, Assistant Director.”

“Oh my God Bette those are huge I can’t believe you turned them down”

“None of them sounded more appealing then Peggy’s offer”

“Are you insane, no wonder why Melvin’s peeved, those would have been huge for your career”

They reached their cars Bette stopped and turned around to face Tina.

“My career isn’t my priority any more, It’s great and I LOVE what I do, but it doesn’t complete me, besides none of those offers brought me back home back to the people I love.”

Bette smiled and gave Tina a hug and a quick kiss in the cheek.

“I’ll see you T, I had a great time, how about next time we spend the whole day together visit some unknown galleries, or Antique shops try and find the next great talent, we could have dinner after words, what do you say?”

“I say it that sounds great, call me we’ll make plans” Tina smiled as she unlocked her car

“Bette!!” Tina yelled

Bette rolled down her window.

“Nice car” Tina winked and got into her car.

Bette waved good bye.
