Alice glared at Shane as she pushed past the women to close the door of the guest room. "Come here!" Alice gritted through her teeth. Once they were out of Dana’s earshot Alice said "Look, I know what happened last night. I remember everything that happened with truth or dare, skinny dipping, and Dana. She doesn’t remember and I’m not going to tell her."

"Al, I think she knows. I mean you two were in there naked, with the screaming…"

"We didn’t fuck. We were wrestling."

"Naked wrestling. Is that what the kids are calling it these days?"

"You know what fuck you Shane." Alice sighed. "Look guys, I can’t have her know what happened until she’s ready. Things were done last night and really important things were said that change everything but I need her to remember on her own time table."

"If you feel that strongly then my lips are sealed." Bette assured her.

"Yeah Alice I’m not going to say anything."

"Whatever."

"Shane please promise me."

"I’ll respect what you want but that doesn’t mean that I like it. What I saw, what we all saw, last night when both your guards were down was a lot of lust but a lot more of something else. I won’t be part of you smothering it."

"Shane, you know it’s complicated. Her career, her image, her entire life. She’s my best friend. I won’t risk it. She’s gotta take the step."

"Dana is too afraid to ever do that Alice. Even if she did remember. She’s terrified of rejection."

"Shane…"

"Fine. I promise but I don’t like it."

Alice kissed Shane’s forehead "Thank you." Shane saw the tears welling up in Alice’s eyes as she walked toward the bathroom. Once inside she locked the door and looked at the mirror. "I love Dana…I’m in love with Dana." Alice frowned at her predicament as she sank to the bathroom floor quietly sobbing.

Dana emerged from the bedroom and found Bette, Tina, and Shane in the living room.

"Hey guys!"

"Hey Dana." They replied in unison.

"Where’s Al at?"

"She’s still in the bathroom."

"She’s been in there a while. Is everything okay?"

"I think she was planning on taking a bath."

"Okay. Good. I think I fucked up."

"What are you talking about Dana?"

"Um…me and Alice last night. Do you all not remember?"

"We remember. We just didn’t think that you did."

"It was a mistake. She’s my best friend and there was a lot of alcohol and she has a boyfriend."

"Dana, you know she’s not serious about that guy. He fucking left with Harrison last night."

"I guess I blocked that part out…Either way it doesn’t matter. We can’t be together."

"Why the fuck not?" Shane was getting agitated at her oblivious friends.

"Having her as my best friend means more to me than any doomed romance. Incredible sex isn’t worth my best friend."

"Did you ever stop to think that maybe you can have both? Maybe fate brought you together and it was meant to happen?"

"It can’t be that simple. Too much is riding on me staying in the closet. I’m asking you guys to keep quiet."

"Look Dana…Now that this has happened you two need to talk about it. It’s going to be harder now than ever to keep that friend line drawn. It’s not something that’s easy to keep from crossing."

"I’ve been in the closet since I can remember. I think I can keep it in my pants."

"What about your fucking heart Dana?"

"That’s not going to be a problem," Dana stopped and looked to the bathroom door "she already has it."

"You need to tell her. Actually you’ve got to tell her Dana."

"I love her but I can’t be with her. Please respect me enough to do what I need. Please for my sake leave it alone. I’m begging you guys."

"If she ever finds out it won’t be from us." Bette told her touching her shoulder to calm her down.

"Thank you. All of you." Dana headed to the kitchen wiping her cheeks.

Tina sighed "They belong together."

"Yeah, well they’re both fucking idiots." Shane groaned.
