Kate and Tina arrive at the restaurant at 11:45a as planned and are seated immediately. The server comes over with chips and salsa for the table along with water glasses. He introduces himself, hands them menus, rattles off the specials and takes their drink orders. Kate and Tina order soft drinks. They are already familiar with the menu so they place their appetizer and entrée orders and asked that everything be brought out at the same time. The server walks away to get their drinks and to start the food. Kate and Tina sip on their water and munch on chips and salsa as they wait for their food to be served.
“I’ve been craving Mexican food for days. I’m glad you agreed to come here.” Tina says as she dips another chip in the green salsa and savors it.
“It’s my pleasure. I love Mexican food so you didn’t have to twist my arm. So tell me what happened with Bette and Jodi?”
Tina wasn’t in the habit of talking to Kate about Bette, and she usually didn’t ask but since Kate knew about Bette’s grand gesture having heard about it from Alice and Shane at the party it was natural that she’d be curious. Tina answered without divulging any details.
“I guess the best way to put it is that they came to a mutual consensus that they weren’t meant to be together. They’ve ended things amicably. If nothing else Jodi loved the sign. She said it was exactly what she envisioned for her art project.”
“So how is Bette taking the break-up?”
“I think she’s fine.”
“So she’s single again.” Kate said stating the fact, more than asking a question.
“Yeah. I suppose she is.” Tina answers wistfully which wasn’t lost on Kate.
“Is she ready to start dating again?” Now it sounded like Kate was prying.
“I don’t know Kate. It’s only been a couple of days. We don’t really pry into each others personal lives unless it impacts Angie. Why do you ask? Do you want to set her up? Or are you interested in dating her yourself? Tina asks jokingly.
“Well she is hot.” Kate answered with a wink. Tina wasn’t expecting that response. She looked at Kate to make sure she was joking. “She is Tina but I don’t have to tell you that.”

Sorry KATE but TINA’s heart will always belong to BETTE.They have removed two obstacles from their path to happiness hoping they don’t get off track without fully talking about the lack of trust that is between forever and heartbreak for them both.pps

You really have me hooked on this story now BAT :) You even had me liking Kate ! Almost stopped imagining her in that dam hat!
Seriously though loving this story and look forward to the next post – 21 pages ! Great !
My Kate is definitely not the gum chewing, hat wearing, egoist like the one on the show. She’s a classy act in this story which is why she lasted so long with Tina. As for Bette and Tina they will find their way back sooner rather than later. Stay tuned. Thanks for reading and commenting. Next chapter will be posted later today.
I feel a little sorry for Kate, she seems a nice lady in this story and the way she encouraged Tina to follow her heart shows that.
But we all know that Bette&Tina are soulmates, they both know that they have to work at the trust issue between them.

Bat…. I’m reading this for the first time here in 2020. This chapter should be submitted to GenQ. Substitute Carrie for Kate and you have the episode of that will please everyone. Funny how history repeats itself…
Wonderful story so far…..A little different story line in which Tina leaves the relationship and not as a result of Bette’s cheating. But in the original story, if Bette had not cheated, I think this is the way it would have gone. But they would not have stayed separated for 5 years…. Of course they still have Angie to co-parent and to keep them in constant contact with each other.
Great Chapter…. Love Kate’s message to Tina. It was a hard one to deliver for her I’m sure. The heart always hopes that things will go their way even though the brain knows differently. Kate responded with her brain and the evidence which was clear to her. She would never be able to replace Bette in Tina’s life. Tina’s heart belongs to Bette and to Angie and it always will.
