    Bette returns to the house and a frightened Tina. SPOILERS!

     

    After loving you

    chapter 3

     

    Evening – the same day

     

    Bette returned after dark to a sleeping Angelica and a frightened Tina.  First she went in to look at the baby.  She always felt such love when she looked at her daughter.  Angie had been virtually the only bright part of her recent life.

     

    When Bette entered their bedroom, Tina followed her, swallowed and began.

     

    “Bette, I don’t want you to leave.”

     

    Bette had sat down on the bed and just looked at Tina, waiting for her to go on.

     

    “But I need us to have an open relationship, at least for a while.”

     

    “You want to date other people.”  Bette said this as a statement, not a question.

     

    Tina was silent but nodded her head.

     

    “You’ve thought about that in the last few hours and you still want to be with other people.  You’re sure?  Be sure, Tina.  This is important.”

     

    Tina nodded again.  “I’m sure.”

     

    Bette got up, chose some casual clothes, and walked into the bathroom.  She closed the door. When she emerged, wearing the casual outfit, she was also carrying a travel bag of toiletries. She pulled out a suitcase and duffel bag and began calmly packing enough clothes for the next few days.  She took several suits and pairs of shoes out of the closet and put them on the bed.

     

    Tina walked toward her as though to touch her.  Bette again pulled back from her.

     

    “Don’t touch me or I’ll really hit you,” she said softly.  “You’ll think that little slap you gave me after the Provocations opening was a gentle caress.”

     

    “Bette, I really don’t want you to leave.  I want you here.”

     

    Tina probably wouldn’t have said this if she had seen the quick flame of fury that appeared briefly in Bette’s eyes when she referred to the “gentle caress.”  But she had glanced away and missed it.

     

    Bette looked at her oddly.  “You want me to stay here while you fuck other people?  Are you crazy?”

     

    She continued to look at Tina, wondering who the hell she was.

     

    “I know I did a terrible thing to you.  I have tried to apologize.  I have let you humiliate me.  I have let you punish me.  But now I’ve had enough.”

    3. wow, this is hell, if s3 will be anything like that, i’m done watching…but i’ll be reading because i love your writing…i like the way bette stood up to tina’s guilt/candace comment…is tina really crazy to think that she can have open relationship and have bette waiting for her at home while she’s f***ing someone else? i hope you can fix this soon, faster than 12 episodes of s3 ;)

    5. I love it…that’s right Bette don’t take this shit lying down. Although I want to see Bette and Tina together, They both (or rather Tina)needs to realize where they want to be. The way in which the couple was re-united without discussion of anything was very odd and disturbing. I think this needs to happen before any type of resolution can be made. They need that seperation from each other while still maintaing a connection for them to have deep conversations about thier relationship. The problem will be when a conversation can exsist with Bette beyond pissed. Tina, you should have been careful for what you wished for, you got it and much much more.

    6. Oh fuck.. I’m hating and loving this at the same time.. Hating it cuz I really am not in GO BETTE cheerleading team although she had the right to say some of the things she said, and neither a fan of Tina’s I wanna have my cake and eat it attitude.. But loving it cuz it’s YOUR story..

Dude, pancha, I swear to every deity that exists, if Jennifer Beals delivered that scene on the show, and didn’t get nominated for an Emmy let alone win the damn thing, there would be a news story the following day saying that several TVs all over the nation (even the world for those who are able to catch the show when it first airs) were broken in a fit of rage and the common thread was they were all tuned in to the same channel at the moment of their demise. As much as I hate that Bette cheated on Tina, this is even worse. Bette was truly sorry for what she did and here Tina wants her cake and eat it too. Your Bette is way calmer than I would be if my wife wanted do what Tina’s doing.

Her fucking Candace is just a one-time thing. It was not and will never be defined as an open relationship. Tina’s requirement is ridiculous. She didn’t even feel really sorry about her stepping out of their relationship (don’t say it’s just mental. she has actually put into action). But how about Angie? Can Bette just leave like this without concerning Angie? I don’t think Bette will make out around soon. But I don’t mind Bette getting meat-tagged again so that Tina could realise how amazing Bette is and how invaluable their relationship is. I’d like to see a jealous and regretful Tina. Of course finally let Bette forgive Tina and let them be happy forever. Sorry, it seems like I’m writing the story. =P Since you’ve been to Scotland, I’m 99% percent sure you’ve been to the city I’m staying in — Edinburgh. Don’t tell me you just went to Glasgow. ;)

If IC has Tina say just one line that you wrote in this story I won’t touch the L Word again. Lady you got dirty and greety with this one.     23. Indeed, how much can one person take? The quiet fury is believable in reaction to this Tina’s seemingly callous demeanor. I appreciate the hurt inflicted though I’m still at odds at how S2 unfolded. My confusion rivals that of any who had trouble with the rushed (if not forced) storylines and spurious character development. Thus, I prefer to carry on with my perception of them in S1. Staying together for the wrong reason/s is just as bad as giving up prematurely. For allowing me to vent at length and sharing this interpretation …thanks.

Bette is hella angry yet she isn’t raging, total control, total clarity. But I am such a huge Tibetter that I do want Tina to apologize and I want them to communicate. I can just imagine and hear JB saying your lines. It would be an amazing episode. Is it difficult for you to write these chapters?

And for anyone who ever defended Tina’s actions in S2 as those of a hurt woman (I’m referring to the suing, the baby crap, the Helena crap, the brief encounter crap, the dating crap… ok, enough crap from me), to read it all here, laid out perfectly the way Tina played it — it’s stark, it’s cruel, it’s vindictive… not borne out of hurt but out of someone who’s meaner than Bette could ever dream of being. From the spoilers I’ve seen Tina is so screwed up its not even funny, and I believe Bette is feeling the brunt of it. All I can say is you go Bette. She let her off easier than I would have. Bette made a mistake, and she’s being paying for it every since, but hell its not like Tina was exactly being an angel through the whole thing. Bette dumped Candace early on, but Ms. Tina just kept going. Girl you cannot have your cake and eat it to.     54. How would Tina have felt if Bette had asked for an open relationship instead of having the affair? To me either way would have been just as hurtful. While the simple truth is if you can’t maintain a committed relationship you should not be in it in the first place.I hate that IC is going to take us places in S-3 without the clarity you have provided in your story. There are so many emotions brought to life by a betrayal and I feel like she will omit this fact. You are truly a wonderful writer, thank you for sharing your talent.

    62. Back for another drive by. After thinking about what you wrote I would really like to know what’s behind Tina’s need to go outside of the relationship she now has with Bette. Is it sexual, emotional or is she trying to punish Bette? I think this knowledge might help me understand both charaters in this story cause as of now Tina sickens me and I am trying to remain open to both characters feelings. In other words can you give us a glimpse into Tina’s psyche i.e. motivation. And just to say it again this chapter was truly magnificent, stellar work here, stellar.

    66. Pancha/Slippery here is what I believe about this Tina: she get by w/o the connection she has for Bette, but she refuses to open up and truly give herself to Bette again and she’s angry. In her mind its Bette’s fault. She still needs a sexual release so she seeks that outside the relationship while at the same time able to punish Bette. If this wasn’t intentional she would have had feelings of guilt when caught and remorse for her choice and action. When given time to think she held fast to her position, only malice could make you do that to your partner. Keeping Bette around will keep a beautiful comfortable lifestyle for her, give her help with the baby and provide a great night of sleep. Who would give that up if you can have your cake and eat it too? I’m not sure Tina really wants it open for Bette or if she says that just to get her way. Awaiting the next chapter to see wha Pancha has in store, thanks for sharing.
