All the Small Things–Chapter 4
“Jodi?” Tina echoed. The blonde looked at the brunette quizzically.
“Yeah. Jodi Lerner. She was my ex-girlfriend. She was a sculptor. She helped me run the gallery until we broke up.” Bette said, downing the rest of her Pellegrino. She then turned to her housemate and the brown bags at the table. “So. What’s in those bags?”
“Dinner. Have you had dinner?” Tina asked, opening the bags and taking out a few containers. “A friend took me to the Planet to get some coffee.”
“No. Not yet.” Bette looked at her housemate curiously. Didn’t she say last weekend that she didn’t know anyone else in LA? “You said you didn’t know anyone in LA.”
“I’m sorry. I was too out of it to remember. I do have a friend here, but we’re not that close.” Tina explained. “Yet. We met last year. Her name’s Jane Edwards.”
“Jane Edwards.” Bette echoed thoughtfully. “Redhead? Movie executive? Gay?”
“Yeah?”
“I know her. We dated briefly, we probably had around five dates. She’s nice.” Bette then waved her hands towards the direction of the containers. “So what are we having for dinner?”
A nice warm sensation filled Tina when Bette said the words ‘we’ and ‘dinner’, but she decided to ignore it. “I got you pizza and some pasta, would that be okay?”
“Yes. Thank you.” Bette said. “Have you had dinner?”
“No, not yet,” Tina replied. “Do you mind sharing?”
“No, of course not.” Bette answered, as she divided the contents between her and Tina and handed the blonde her pair of utensils. “How was your day?”
“It was insane,” Tina said, shaking her head. “It was like getting inside a washing machine. I have never felt so tired in my entire life. Hollywood is just driving me crazy.”
“Hollywood. You work at a movie studio?” Bette asked, after a bite of her pizza. Her sister sure knew how to run a good place. The food was always amazing when it came from the Planet. Shane used to say that if it wasn’t from the Planet, it wouldn’t compare.
Tina nodded. “I work as a development executive at Alphaville.”
“The movie business. Nice.” Bette said, although she wasn’t sure what she was really referring to. “Is it okay if I ask which movies you worked in?” Bette gestured with her fork to a shelf in the living room. “I’m no movie geek, but I have a little collection over there.”

oh wasn’t expecting that B and Jane dated?! would’ve been nice to see some irritation (that she couldn’t understand, of course) on T’s part when she learned that…thx, now on to the next one :)
I love that Bette and Tina are bonding. Tina’s inner joy at Bette’s dinner statement was good to see. I am off to read more!
