"Just wait until Saturday," Bette said with a smile. "It’s always more enjoyable to have some actions to match the descriptions."
One last kiss and Tina was on her way up the escalator towards the departures level.
Bette watched until she was out of sight before heading back to her car for the drive to the office.
***********
Bette was about to break for lunch when she heard her cell ring. She glanced at the caller i.d. before answering.
"That was quick," Bette said.
"My baggage was first off the carousel and a ride was waiting for me," Tina replied. "My meeting’s not for an hour and a half. Do you have a few minutes?"
"I have whatever you’re willing to give me."
"Turns out I’m willing to make myself quite available to you," Tina said.
"Do you wonder if the abundance of time we’ll have together once you get back will change how we interact?"
"As opposed to the limited snippets we’ve been forced to tolerate since we started dating?" Tina clarified.
"Right…I mean, when you get back this weekend, we’ll have two whole days to spend together," Bette said. "No work, no research, no looming deadlines."
"You’re concerned we won’t have anything to talk about?"
"I won’t be interested in talking when you first get back anyway," Bette said.
"No ability to converse required?"
"Nothing beyond the occasional exclamation of pleasure," Bette said.
"I already said I would miss you, you don’t have to tease me from afar as well."
"When we first met you said you liked to be teased," Bette offered. "You also indicated I was unlikely to ever make use of that detail because, and I’m quoting here, I’m ‘not your type’."
"Seems I was mistaken," Tina replied. "And it turns out you don’t mind a suggestive comment yourself now and then."
"I’m at work, you know," Bette said.
"I didn’t say anything untoward."
"This is always how it starts. I’ve got you figured out."
"You think you have me figured out," Tina replied. "There’s a lot you don’t know."
"How fortuitous that we’re about to have more time for those discoveries."
