"One innocent little conversation in a restaurant and I’m branded for life," Tina sighed.
"If that’s your idea of innocent, I’m intrigued at how you would define bold," Bette said.
"You loved it, I saw the glint in your eye."
"The picture of a staid academic belies what I know to be true," Bette said.
"And what do you know to be true, pray tell?" Tina asked.
"Whatever you do, you do with passion," Bette said. "There’s nothing subdued about your approach to any project."
"If something’s worth doing, it’s worth doing to the best of my ability and with all available resources."
"Now I’m trying to figure out if I’m simply one of your resources for this case, or if you’re still going to be interested once it’s in the history books."
"I called you," Tina reminded her. "And this case is all but over."
"I’m pleased to note that you are staying at my house when you get back."
"Just you and me – for two days," Tina said. "How will we possibly pass the time…"
"Still at work," Bette said. "But you do tempt me."
"It’s always more enjoyable for me when you succumb to the temptation."
"Then why am I the one who had to pursue you?"
"It was a pretty short pursuit," Tina replied. "You intrigued me."
"I’m smitten with you," Bette said. "My intuition served me well, as it often does."
"Smitten. I like that. Gives the illusion I might have some control over you."
"I think it’s more than an illusion," Bette replied.
"You do know how to tease."
"You have a lot to learn about me too," Bette replied.
"As interesting as this conversation is getting, I need to take a shower before the meeting," Tina said. "But I wanted to say ‘hi’ and let you know I’m here and checked in."
"Any chance we can talk tonight?"
"Sure, I’ll call," Tina said. "Even if it’s just to say goodnight."
"I like saying goodnight to you every night," Bette said. "Though admittedly I prefer whispering it in your ear to speaking over a phone."
