“Shh,” Tina soothed hugging Bette’s head to her chest as the brunette cried.

“How can I have a daughter and not remember her?” Bette sobbed.

“You will remember her Bette,” Tina said kissing her temple, “you love her too much not to.”

Bette looked up at Tina, with her tearful eyes and leaned up to capture her lips. The kiss was soft and tender and Tina wanted to cry. Tina’s lips parted and Bette’s tongue darted in, caressing Tina’s ever so softly. They parted with a small smile. Tina leaned her forehead on Bette’s.

“You should get some sleep,” Tina said softly.

Bette smiled and said, “you too.”

“Good night,” Tina said standing up and turning off the light, “I love you.”

Bette closed her eyes and said, “I love you too.”

Bette and Tina had saved up for this performance for such a long time, they were both very excited for it. To watch Tina’s favorite musical live on Broadway was Tina’s dream come true.

They had the most perfect seats in the middle of the theatre. They weren’t too close to the stage but not too far either.

When the loud bugle horn sounded, indicating the beginning of ‘Godspell’ Tina shifted excitedly in her seat.

“Why does this show mean so much to you?” Bette asked just as the tenor voice of the character John sang out, “Prepare ye the way of the Lord.”

“It’s not like I’m religious or anything, but this was a show that my dad and I used to put up in the community theatre in Arizona,” Tina explained, “it always makes me cry.”

“Because Jesus dies at the end?” Bette asked, “but we all knew why Jesus had to sacrifice himself.”

“Yes of course, I read the Bible,” Tina said, “but just seeing it on stage, it’s like you’re there.”

Bette nodded in agreement and focused her attention on the show, where a young man walked onto the stage. His character was Jesus, and he looked the part really well. There was kind, wise demeanor about him.

Bette watched the show in awe, making sure to pay attention to Tina’s reactions as well. She would gasp, or laugh, or recite some of the lines along with the characters, or mouth out the lyrics of the song.
