"Tina, I . ."
She wanted to say that she found herself drawn to their connection, that she knew in her heart that it could develop into something deeper than anything she could ever hope to achieve with Ava but that was crazy. Wasn’t it?
How was it that she could be so set on trying to make things work with Ava but after only a few brief moments with Tina, Bette felt the strength she needed to walk away from her toxic relationship? Her obligations to her girlfriend suddenly didn’t matter as much as they had before. Bette felt a deep cold wash over her as she remembered the last time she thought she had the strength to walk away from Ava.
What if she hurt them both? Bette knew what that felt like and suddenly wasn’t so sure she had the strength to go through that again.
"You what?" Tina whispered as she continued to stroke Bette’s cheeks with her thumbs, leaning forward so that their lips were only a whisper away.
Bette felt a shiver run through her body, her eyes closing of their own accord. She swallowed hard and felt the lump that had formed, dreading what she knew she had to say.
With all the complications weighing on her shoulders, Bette decided it would probably be best if they stayed friends. Things would be hard enough to deal with as is without adding fuel to the fire.
She was afraid to confront her feelings and end up hurting someone over something that had a chance of being nothing more than just an attraction to something new. Those often led to affairs and affairs never lasted. One experience was more than enough for Bette and she swore never to hurt someone like that again.
Bette slowly opened her eyes and looked deep into Tina’s, doing her best to push passed the tears that were threatening to form. She wanted this, she wanted Tina but Bette felt she had a duty to Ava and for that she knew being with Tina wasn’t an option.
"Maybe it’s best if I don’t finish that sentence"
Bette watched as the gentle expression on Tina’s face turned into one of disappointment and sadness. What little hope she carried dwindled as Tina pulled away, taking the softness of her touch with her.
"You’re right"
"Tina-" Bette felt the need to take it all back. Something inside her screamed "damn the consequences." Maybe it was the panic she felt at Tina pulling away or maybe it was because she didn’t want to keep living the life she forced herself into. Either way, it was too late.
"I better get back. Ava is probably wondering where I am"
Bette opened her mouth to speak but no words came out as she watched Tina turn away from her and walk away.

Bette was planning to propose to Ava? Oh man. I hope she doesn’t go through with that, it’d be an utter disaster. Even if she never tries to explore anything with Tina, Bette should start listening to what her brain and heart are telling her. And in Tina’s situation, something is clearly up with Sam. She’d better figure it out. Everyone seems to be settling with their rather unhappy lot, but fear is a powerful de-motivator. Love the story so far, thanks Liah! :)
Love AU Tibette fanfics. Ava needs to go, lol. Tina’s Sam too, I don’t know if she is a “bad guy” like Ava, but her behaviour seems suspicious.
I know a guy who “takes care of problems” if catch my drift. Ava could easily be left in this chapter, just let me know. This was another awesome post. I love the chemistry and you did a great job portraying it. I also love the chemistry between the gang. Okay, I love everything about everyone except Ava. I can tell that Ava is going to be a pain in my ass. Can’t wait for the next post. Thank you Miss Leah😘

oh please DON”T propose to someone so toxic. I have no idea why Bette would love – GASP does she even known what real love is at this point? – Ava. Ava is so self-centered. I hope at least Sam is not such a horrible person to Tina even though I would like Bette and Tina together but at least one of them deserves to be treated good. I don’t like the idea of Alpha bette being wuss because of anyone …well except for tina of course. :)

Another update from Liah!! *🎶lalalala…🎶* :-) Thanks Liah!! you just brighten my day! :-) Though the story made me feel sorry for pathetic Bette who was gonna propose to someone who clearly is manipulative, not care about her and OmG! Not even close to love at all!! Argh! … Is Bette so desperate so she just take whatever the devil’s offered her!? I think being single is much better than that!!! I hope something messy would happen and let there be hurricane and storm between ava and bette/tina and sam… as the sun will shine brightly on the blue sky afterward.. For a new day for Tina and Bette :-) LOL… Pardon my impatience as you are right – that it’s so tempted to place a kick to someone’s @$$ here!! PPVS! :-)
