There was a few seconds of silence, no one even dared to let out their breath. Tina felt her heart beating wildly against her chest with the thought of what she was about to do. She took a deep breath and let it out with laughter.
"I suppose I should do this now before I completely lose my nerve"
There was a round of soft chuckles as Tina climbed off the stool and carefully made her way off the stage with the help of her bodyguards before slowly walking towards the brunette. Bette watched with some confusion, wondering just what her girlfriend was up to. Her heart pounded against her chest, her mind running a thousand miles a minute. Tina wasn’t about to do what Bette thought she was about to do. Was she?
Tina stepped in front of Bette who was frozen in her seat and took her hand before slowly and carefully dropping to one knee.
Bette’s eyes widened with the sight before her, the room was filled with a few gasps and whispers. Everyone watched with anticipation, holding their breaths as they waited for Tina to speak.
"Bette . . for almost two years you have been my rock, my inspiration. You’ve shown me so many things, opened my eyes and my heart in a way I never thought possible. It wasn’t until I met you that I truly knew what love was . . and what it meant to be loved in return"
Bette swallowed hard as Tina’s soft words touched her ears and her heart. Her eyes filled with tears that Bette desperately tried to blink back. This was a special moment for them and Bette didn’t want to ruin it by crying.
"From the moment we first met, I knew you were the thing that I had been missing in my life. From the moment we first kissed, I knew I wanted to spend forever with you"
Bette wasn’t able to hold back her tears any longer and instead embraced them as they rolled down her cheeks. With a smile, Tina glanced at Kit who reached around her emotional sister and handed the blonde a small velvet box. Bette immediately shot her big sister a look to which Kit gave her an innocent smile and a wink.
"Bette Porter" Bette instantly turned her head back around and looked deep into Tina’s eyes before dropping down to the slowly opening box and the beautiful diamond ring that sat inside, "You’re everything I could have ever wanted and more. Will you marry me, baby?"
Bette sniffed back her tears and nodded, too overcome with emotion to respond with words just yet. With a big smile, Tina excitedly slipped the ring on Bette’s finger before rising up to kiss her new fiance.
The entire room burst into cheers and applause as Bette got to her feet and kissed Tina deeper, wrapping her arms around her lover and holding tight. Their lips parted and they rested their foreheads together, laughing and crying with happiness as they expressed their love for one another. They kissed again as the room cheered louder, making them both smile into the deep kiss.
"So this is as good as it gets huh?" Bette teased with a smile once they parted for air.
"Nah . . just wait until tonight baby" Tina smiled and bit her lip, "It gets better"

I love this story so much. Second time reading and it just gets better. The ending is amazing. I think, most envision Bette proposing to Tina. Power babes appear to be in control and even possessive, but inside they’re often flailing. They long to be topped in many areas of life lol— not just in the intimate ways. If you’re that lucky someone, they’ll expose their vulnerability. To be strong is to be vulnerable. I enjoy stories where their roles are slightly reversed. Plus, dominant Tina is hotttt! Bette Porter-Kennard. Aw I’m swooning. So talented you are! ✨
