Sam walked over to Bette who had been sitting on the floor, her knees drawn up and her head resting on the wall behind her. The mocha skinned brunette looked deep in thought as she stared at the ceiling, her eyes were still red and puffy from all the crying she had done.
"Mind if I sit?"
Bette turned her head and looked at Sam completely exhausted. They locked eyes for a moment before Bette shrugged her shoulders and went back to looking at the ceiling. Sam took a seat beside her and the two sat in silence for a while until the younger brunette spoke softly.
"She’s gonna be okay, you know"
Bette didn’t say a word, her eyes still focused on a spot on the ceiling. Sam expected as much but she still hoped that Bette would listen to what she had to say.
"I hate that I hurt her, Tina I mean" Sam saw the way Bette pursed her lips and even slightly rolled her eyes. She doubted Bette would believe a word she said but Sam had faith that the brunette would listen anyway.
"At the same time, as much as I wish I had done things differently . . I don’t fully regret what happened"
Bette shot her a look, in disbelief and anger at what Sam had just said but before she could say anything, the younger brunette finished what she was saying.
"In some way . . I feel like I did her favor"
Bette’s eyebrows knitted together in confusion as she remained silent. Sam’s eyes were fixated on something straight ahead but Bette was still able to see the emotion swirling in those light brown eyes.
"I see how she looks at you, how the two of you are together . . it just works. You two are perfect for each other. I know on some level I could have made her happy, a part of me likes to believe that I did to an extent but . . it would have never been anything compared to the way you make her feel"

I love this story so much. Second time reading and it just gets better. The ending is amazing. I think, most envision Bette proposing to Tina. Power babes appear to be in control and even possessive, but inside they’re often flailing. They long to be topped in many areas of life lol— not just in the intimate ways. If you’re that lucky someone, they’ll expose their vulnerability. To be strong is to be vulnerable. I enjoy stories where their roles are slightly reversed. Plus, dominant Tina is hotttt! Bette Porter-Kennard. Aw I’m swooning. So talented you are! ✨
