As Good As It Gets – Chapter 6

She was probably right too. If Bette couldn’t have Tina, she probably would never have anything better.

    6 Months Later

"Don’t tell me you’re hiding out here, Porter"

Bette pursed her lips at the sound of Alice’s voice as she wondered how in the hell did she find her. Then all Bette had to think was well, its Alice and that answered her question right away. It was a shame too, Bette really thought the balcony was the best hiding spot. With all the events going on, who would even think of looking for her on the balcony? Oh right, Alice.

"I’m not hiding" Bette muttered as she brought her drink to her lips. Jack and ginger, her new favorite drink of the month.

"Then what are you doing?" Alice walked up to the railing that Bette had been leaning over and placed her arm on the cold metal rail beside the brunette.

"Enjoying the scenery" Bette smirked as she held out her glass toward the beautiful view of Hollywood at sunset. It was the night of the Grammy Awards and Bette had the best view in the house, or second best view anyway. She had already seen the first best only a half hour earlier.

Alice looked out to all the bright lights and busy streets below. The skies were changing from bight yellows and reds, to shades of purple and blue. It was truly a breathtaking sight but Alice had no interest in the semi quiet outdoors. All the fun was happening back inside.

"You know she just won the Grammy for best new artist right?"

"I heard" Bette smiled as she continued to look out at the scenery, "I could hear the cheers from out here"

"So why don’t you go congratulate her?"

If only it were that simple.

"Maybe later" If Bette ever worked up the courage to actually do it.

"No maybes, Bette. Do it" Alice put some of her weight on the arm resting on the rail so that she could lean forward and get a closer look into Bette’s eyes.

    "Not now, Alice"

"Okay, now about this . . if I leave you alone now, do you promise to say something to her after the show?"

Bette knew she wouldn’t get a better compromise than that, she was even surprised Alice had willingly gone that far at all. In some ways, Bette knew she would have at least said something without Alice’s insistence but she was glad that her friend cared enough to even push that far.

    "Okay, deal"

With a victorious smile, Alice pushed off the railing to head back inside but not before slapping a "friendly" hand on Bette’s shoulder, spilling some of the brunette’s drink in the process.

"That’s what I like to hear"

Bette couldn’t help but chuckle and shake her head as Alice walked away and left her alone once more. With a deep breath, Bette returned to the peaceful sight before her as she tried to figure out just exactly what to say later. She knew Alice wouldn’t let her out of the building until she at least said hi so Bette would at least  try to make the nerve wrecking conversation go by as smooth as possible. The less embarrassing the better.

It was only a few minutes that passed before Bette’s ears were filled with the softest voice she hadn’t heard in months. It had the same effect on her as it had before too, her heart felt as if it stopped and started to beat faster all at once.

"I thought I might find you out here"

    1. First let me say YEEEHEY!….The bitch is Gone!…And way to go Bette!…It’s 6 months had past..for sure It’s Tina’s Grammy party..but.. why I had a feeling Tina got a new gf?… …

    2. ooooooo can’t wait for more, i got so wrapped up in that chapter. Finally Ava’s gone, and so is Sam now time has passed a lot of emotional work has been undergone now maybe it’s time to focus on what they really want, EACH OTHER! Let’s hope it eventually works out that way. You’re doing a great job Liah :D

    3. Thanks Liah for another amazing update!! :-) first thing first…. “Bette held her head in her hands and stared down at the velvet box sitting on the coffee table.” and she didn’t think what would Tina felt or thought when saw it!? Was she really that blind or *cough* stupid?! Second, what do you meant 6 months later?! What happen in that half a year besides probably Tina sign up with planet?! They don’t talk anymore besides business or what?!? And last but not least… How could you end the chapter there!?! Such a tease!! … Now about Ava.. Glad that she finally out of the picture 👯 :-) and again… Is Ava the one who slept with Sam?! is she?! Is she?! :-0 ouch! So many questions on my mind as it seems that it’s not clear yet on what on earth is going on?! And it’s kinda ironic yet “funny” fact that actually all 4 of them are cheater!! No matter what is the definition of cheating and who is the most guilty one. The bright side of it is to let everyone back to square one again! And hopefully, from there they can have a fully fresh start! :-) towards a better future of course … (read as happy Tibette love story ;-) ) So Liah… Please pretty please do us a favor by posting update ASAP aka PPVS?!? :-) don’t let us hang in the balcony for too long as we might not survive the fall :-p so please come and rescue us before it happen :-) hehe…

    4. Tina made it in the industry at the speed of the Biebs. I’m happy for her. A Grammy nod which means that she may have or will go on tour? I hope Bette didn’t give in to Ava and they eloped. Loved this update Miss Liah 👋😘 thank you

    5. Well, Bette broke it off (or did she?) with Ava… that was a good thing. Tina seemed to say goodbye to Bette (or did she?), and that was not such a good thing. Six months have passed… I wonder what happened in the interim. It would be sort of sad if Bette missed out on Tina in her life in both a professional *and* personal capacity. Oh well. I’ll just have to wait and see how the story unfolds. Thanks for posting. :)
