As One Door Closes…
The last kiss was one that went deep into the realms of their hearts in its emotional impact. It was the first kiss of this type and they both wanted more but knew that this wasn’t the proper place or time. Soon, they broke apart and just gazed into the other’s eyes and saw the love that waited for them there.
When that incredible kiss ended, they just held each other close for a long moment. This one kiss began the dance of intimacy between the women that would only become more powerful over the passage of time.
One Saturday, Tina went into her office early as she had some catching up to do with her work from taking time off to get the boys situated. She didn’t enjoy the loss of time with her family but she also had responsibilities to Peggy to perform her job to the best of her abilities and create a successful studio in New York.
Bette supported her with what her job entailed regarding her responsibilities and demands, often calling Tina while she was working and just checking in with words of support. The boys took great delight in delivering lunch to their Momma when she worked on Saturdays. Bette often brought her flowers when they brought in her lunch. Then the family would eat lunch together, chatting about the day and afterwards, the boys and Bette would take off for an adventure or a movie.
On this particular Saturday, Bette was assisting Max in practicing some new skills in math that he had learned at school but didn’t quite understand. They were sitting at the kitchen table working. Ozzie was in the bedroom, playing with toys and then watching a movie. He couldn’t quite concentrate on any one thing for too long on this day.
He finally decided that this was the day he would ask because he missed the activity so much for all the goodness it brought him. He made his way out to the table where his mom and brother sat doing math. He watched them work and cheer when Max finally understood the problems. He waited patiently for the opportunity to ask while standing at the table’s edge with his little hands holding the edge and his nose and glasses peering over the tabletop.
