    As One Door Closes…

    Chapter 6

One morning after she woke up, Tina lay in her bed and thought about her new life. She was in awe of how everything had happened with her new and amazing life in New York. She loved being a parent to the boys and simply loved learning all there was to one beautiful and gorgeous Elizabeth Porter. It always seemed to flow with her potential girlfriend when they talked as they were getting to know one another better.

Tina smiled remembering how both women had felt the connection between them from that first day as Bette had held her with her arm around her to give her comfort after the horrendous incident, and then held her hand while they sat on the bench waiting for her and Max to be taken into the hospital. The electrical zingers had traveled up and down both women’s arms and into their hearts. That piece of information they had shared with each other as they began to talk of dating. They conversed about so much and laughed and also enjoyed the quiet with one another as the days passed.

As the passage of time moved forward, both women realized after being together for a few months that their relationship had the potential to be a most amazing connection and a match made in heaven… They felt an automatic closeness that neither one had ever experienced with another person, previously in their life.

The biggest blessing was that their conversations came easily between them and both women felt that that was very important to keep them both on the same page to avoid the nasty consequences of not communicating. They supported and respected and assisted one another in ways that no one had ever been with them.

Another important decision they made was for family counseling with Sonia. The foster parents wanted to get the parenting right with raising the two boys so therapy became a monthly date they did together. They wanted all of the relationships to be healthy and loving as the boys had been through some hard times. Tina and Bette also went in for individual counseling as well as they both realized that the baggage that they carried with them from their past was ready to be released.
