Chapter 14

 The weather was beautiful that morning. The sun was shining and birds were singing. Tina felt like she was in the middle of some unexpected dream. And if I am she thought please don’t let me wake up. She strolled down the sidewalk happy and care free. Her heart full of happiness and joy that exploded with every stranger that passed by. The town smelled of fresh baked bread it lingered in her nose as she crossed the street heading into the park. She thought about Angelica and Kit and everyone back home. Ah home, it wasn’t that long ago she was there setting in the living room playing with Angelica, but it seemed like it had been forever. It was where she longed to be all along. It was all she had ever dreamed of, warm cozy nights at home safe with Bette and their daughter. She picked a bench close to the lake that rested in the middle of the park. Tina watched as the birds played together. They flew around, wings fluttering and splashing water on one another. Like little kids she thought and it was then she decided to call home.  She spoke with Kit who was thrilled to hear how she and Bette had come together once again. I knew it; I just knew it Kit told her. She, like Tina, knew they were just meant to be together. They talked about Tina’s plan. Kit was so excited about it. So much so, she could hardly wait for them to come home. Tina told her everything. And together they were set on making it the event of the season. It’s so nice Kit said to hear happiness in your voice. This is just the kind of news that keeps hope alive. They talked about Angelica. Tina wept when she told Kit how much she missed her and was saddened by what she must have missed. However, this is where her life had brought her. Life sometimes is like climbing a mountain you have to climb through rough terrain to get safely to the top. Bette and she had certainly climbed the highest one they could find. And rough was an understatement she thought. But, now they sat happy at the top. They had fought through the struggle; it was rough, but worth the wait. After she spoke with Kit, Tina sat there on the park bench strategizing her plan. She wanted things to be perfect, or at least as perfect as she could make it. But, before anything could take place at home, she needed to prepare herself for the question burning on her lips.
