    Becoming Dana Fairbanks Chapter 25

“Bye,” Howie said and watched the redhead walk away. Looking up at his sister he noticed a small frown. “What’s wrong Dane?”

“Nothing Howie. So how about a really nice picture frame for mom? We can put a picture of the two of us in it?”

“Sounds good to me. Do you think we’ll have time to hit the arcade one more time? Please?”

“Sure, How. Let’s go back to Macy’s first and see if they have any picture frames.”

    **

Christmas passed quickly and before she knew it, Dana was back in LA getting ready for Bette and Tina’s New Years Eve party.

“What do you think: green or red,” Dana asked holding up the two dresses in question. Mr. P raised his head and looked at Dana before curling back up without so much or a meow either way.

“Really? Neither,” Dana said before holding the two dresses at arm’s length to examine them. “Right. Neither.” Sighing she ruffled through her closet before pulling out a pair of jeans and a sparkling black top that Alice had given her for her last birthday. When she tossed them on to the bed Mr. P gave a meow which, Dana chose to interpret as approval rather than annoyance of having jeans land on his furry head.

After a quick shower, Dana changed into her clothes and applied a little bit of makeup. She was excited to see her friends who she hadn’t seen since they all exchanged gifts before she left to go to her parents- a little over a week ago.

Coming out of her bathroom all ready to go, Dana kissed Mr. Piddles on the head, “I’ll see you in a later my furry little man.”

As she made her way through the apartment, the cat followed her meowing. He rubbed against her jean clad leg as she put on her jacket.

“Awww, don’t worry Senor Piddles. I’m just going to hang with your aunts. I promise I won’t be gone so long this time,” Dana reassured the cat as she squatted down to scratch behind his ears. “But that reminds me….”

Walking back into her bedroom, Dana searched her bags until she came out with a small item.

    1. Love this chapter, anionayo! I have made a similar shopping trip for my father many times — I feel their pain. Dana handled the interaction with Mrs. Perkins very well. Love all the little touches you have in the story like Dana introducing Howie as Howard. They really add depth to Dana’s character. Next to Dana/Alice, my favorite couple in your story is Dana/Mr P. That scene with them and the clothes was too cute. Gabby? Argh!! It’s obvious that she can see Dana’s attraction to Alice even if Alice can’t (or won’t) see it. I have a feeling that Dana will fail in her resolution. Really great story. I look forward to what comes next. Thanks!!

    2. I third of fourth what MaGoose, HD and uhhuh said. I’m betting that Dana will fail her resolution (’cause that’s what we really want right :P), but I’m sure the way you will get us there will be interesting :). Ooh, and about Gabby… yurgh…

    3. Oooh, I almost forgot… Can’t wait for Danish day :D They should make it an official holiday, so we won’t have to sneak around at work to read all those great Danish stories :D

    4. I love D being all goofy with Mr P. I hope MaGoose;s feeling that “D will fail” would come true and that she would fail miserably. Just when I thought life was getting easier with the soup chef being far away, Gabby showed up. Oouch! “Alice hated being alone for holidays like this: New Year’s, Valentine’s Day, etc”, lol. Alice did not like to be alone, period. anionayo, thank you very much for this update and again for making Danish Day happen.
