    Bette and Dana’s baby talk

    “And she never did?”

“Not until we went to the couple’s retreat a few years ago, and you know what … it was the greatest expression of our love that she could have given me other than Angelica. I want to carry her baby. If it means implanting her eggs I would do it, but I think the next best thing is to find as close a genetic match as possible so this child will reflect her physical characteristics.”

“Have you found a sperm donor?”

    “We were actually considering Cole.”

    “Your brother in law?”

“Well at the time we didn’t know he was my brother in-law. He was just a dear friend that I loved and trusted to be a part of our baby’s life. Of course I still love and trust him but with Greg being my brother Cole is family. They dynamics have changed. We all agreed that it would be too complicated. Not only because we’re related but he and Greg are planning to have a child of their own.”

“I thought they’d always said they didn’t want children.”

“Circumstances can sometimes alter your life plans and cause you to have a change of heart.”

“So have you found a new donor?”

“No we’re waiting until after the first of the year then Tina and I will visit the cryobank and start searching their database.”

“I thought you wanted to use a known donor.”

“That would be ideal but it doesn’t appear to be in the cards for us.”

“You know Bette. You and Tina might be overlooking someone that you’re both very close to.”

    “Who might that be?”

    “Harrison Scott.”

“Harrison. Are you kidding me?” Bette laughed at the absurdity of their trainer wanting to this.

“Well he certainly has the physical attributes you’re looking for. Even though he acted so obnoxious that night at the donor party he later confided in me that he was a little hurt that you and Tina never asked him.”

“Really? It wasn’t meant to be a slight Dana. I guess it just never occurred to either of us that he’d even consider it. All these years we’ve just thought of him as your double’s partner and make believe boyfriend; at least until you came out. Of course we’re great friends now and I adore him. He’s by far the best personal trainer that Tina and I have ever worked with. Even though I have a trainer here I still refer to Harrison for the best workout routines, but a donor … why has he never said anything to us?”

“Well I think he was just being respectful Bette. It’s not exactly something that you can work into an everyday conversation while you’re lifting weights or doing push-ups.”

“I suppose you’re right. Do you really think he’d do it?”

“It’s been several years since he and I talked about it, but it can’t hurt to ask.”

    “Is he still single?”

“Yes and no complications to speak of. Not like that nutcase Lei Ling that Marcus Allenwood was dating.”

“Marcus married that nutcase and they have a daughter now. She’s not as crazy as she acted back then but don’t remind me. I still get pissed when I think about rushing home from New York in the middle of the night on the red-eye only to find there was no emergency and all of you guys were taking care of Tina and the baby for me.”

“That was a crazy evening. It was a total comedy of errors. Had Tina not unplugged the house phone or if you’d just thought to call one of us on our cell phone all that could have been avoided.”

“I guess neither of us was really thinking clearly but its water under the bridge as they say. Getting back to Harrison, you might have just solved our dilemma Dana. Of course I need to speak to Tina first but if she agrees and if he’s willing. I think he could be a perfect match.”

    3. Great update. I like you introducing new dimensions into this story w/Dana. You have the ability to express the natural fears that people have in their everyday lives in an interesting and compelling manner.

    4. Harrison, never thought about him to be a donor, but he could be a good choise. They shouldn’t wait to long, Bette isn’t that young anymore.

Smart move of Dana and asking Lara to marry her, looking forward to it. Love the special bond between Bette and Dana.

      Thanks for the update!
