Bette
The doorbell chimed with fervor as she shut the door behind her, the sound echoing in the bar. Outside, the relentless storm took its toll, causing a garbage bag to split open under its weight. Rancid leftovers tumbled onto the pavement, finding their way into the crevices of tile grouts. Discarded cans clattered down the gutter, and shreds of paper danced on the wind, carried away to destinations unknown. The garbage collector stood there, a look of astonishment etched across his face. Just a few strides away was his van, a few steps that must’ve felt like miles in that moment. What was he to do now? Start afresh, painstakingly gathering the refuse, piece by piece?
I reached for her coffee cup, my fingers brushing against the rim that bore a faint trace of her light red lipstick. I brought the cup to my lips and took a sip, as if to taste her lips again.
Ouside, Tina’s blonde hair billowed behind her like a golden banner as she navigated the chaotic scene, gracefully avoiding the debris strewn about. Every step she took seemed to carry a quiet determination, a resolve to forge ahead despite the mess. And then, as if carried away by the gusts of wind, she vanished around the corner, leaving behind a trail of memories and a sense of longing that lingered in the air.
2.4 Bette
Above the entrance, a delicate frieze told its own story through intricate carvings, hinting at the artistic marvels concealed within the Musée Marmottan’s walls.
I passed the vibrant Monet paintings without giving them much attention and entered the office area where my colleagues had gathered around the coffee machine.Their uptight faces stared at me. I wonder how they would react if I would tell them today’s reason for being late. I am late today because my wife kissed me last night. She messed me up again. This morning she was still so fucking livid about everything so I had to stay till after she left the bar, so I could drink her coffee to taste her lips again. Would they smile politely and later gossip behind my back, like they did when I returned after the miscarriage? Or would they finally fire me on the spot for inappropriate language and alleged insanity? As I walked past the coffee machine, I shot them a sharp look – I had already had more than enough coffee for the day.

This is so well written, you can almost touch the pain, the sadness, the guilt, the sorrow but also the love she has for Tina.
I love how you let us read and feel the inner thoughts of both Tina and Bette.
I feel shrunken. Everything is so sad, you write their feelings in such a clear manner it’s almost as if I’m the one going through the heartach
When I saw 2.0, I thought, how could this original be improved or redone, but OMG you capture raw emotion so well. The pain, hurt, longing… love. Most excellent.
Even if I want to slap Bette regularly I so enjoy this story. The change of perspective is perfect to put the puzzle of what happend between the once happy couple together. I hope Bette will get over herself and her anger soon and starts talking to Tina.
