Alice: That was my plan.
Tina: Good. Because we have much to do before Sunday.
Alice mumbled.
Alice: Tell me about it.
The two headed back inside while Alice headed two blocks up.
Her first step was to find a service desk. She would need
old newspaper articles, Internet access and a lot of patience. This was a lot
of trouble to go through for just one person. Alice closed her eyes and
pictured what Tina must have looked like after seeing Bette with that guy.
Alice took a deep breath.
Alice: If it will make TK happy then it’s worth it in the
end.
Tina spotted an older woman at the service desk and quickly
approached her for help.
Alice: Excuse me.
Librarian: Can I help you young lady.
Alice: I hope so.
Alice explained to the woman what kind of reference
materials she would need. After taking some notes the librarian escorted her to
a little room in the back. The room was empty and quiet except for the gentle
hum from the computers. The librarian who had walked out of the room only
seconds before, returned with stacks of books, newspaper clippings, reels of
film and a list of web sites.
Librarian: This should help, I hope.
With that Alice got to work. Her first stop was on the
Internet. She did a simple search first…"Bette Porter". The first hit was
Bette’s bio.
"Bette
Porter is thrilled to be back on Broadway. She made her debut at age 21 in
"Jack" originating the role of Cassie. She went on to star in such shows as the
smash hit "Cleopatra", where Bette also originated the role of Cleo. She is a
graduate of Yale University. She has also appeared on television in "Law and
Order SVU" and "Law and Order Criminal Intent". She thanks her friends Shane
and Dana for helping pull her through the mud and of course her mentor, best
friend and sister, Kit. "
Alice spent the rest of the afternoon digging with not much
luck.
Alice: Everyone has a past, including Bette Porter and
whatever it takes, I will find it!
Tina sat at her desk sorting through papers that really
meant nothing to anyone.
Alex: Come here I need to talk to you.
Tina: Coming boss man!
Tina walked briskly to Alex’s office and dropped down in
what had become her usual seat.
Tina: What’s up?
Alex: Nothing.
Tina: Ok….
Alex: Hi
Tina: Hi…why am I here?
Alex: Why are any of us here, really?
Tina: Oh god…
Alex: we haven’t talked about you know who in a while.
Tina: That’s because you know who can kiss my you know what.
Alex: You are such a liar. I can see it killing you, why
won’t you just talk to me about it?
Tina: Because if I ignore it long enough maybe, just maybe
it will go away.
Alex: Have you seen her?
Tina: No!
Alex: Really?
Tina: Really!
Alex: And she hasn’t tried to contact you at all?
Tina: Nope, I was just another notch in that belt of hers.
With that Alex looked at the clock and saw it was 5:30.
Alex: Quitting time kid.
Tina: Good, let’s get out of here.
The two stepped out of the elevator to find Alice waiting
for them.
Alex looked at Alice hoping for some confirmation that she
had found something, anything.
Alice just shrugged her shoulders.
He hugged Tina and whispered in her ear.
Alex: Don’t worry about Bette Porter. Karma is a *****.

Wonderful chapter as always. Can’t wait to see what Alice finds, I just hope she doesn’t do more harm than good. Love this.
great rapport between Tina and Alex and now Alex and Alice they’re both looking out for Tinaand I love the sense of humour between them all, it fits in so well with Alice’s character on TLW looking forward to the next chapter
I love this most plausible of alternate scenarios. You are really making this Broadway/NYC theme work. I am totally taken with this plot and in the moment with these characters!

Just loving each chapter more and more. Please don’t be too harsh with Bette. I know this is a different story, but still love her and Tina together. It’s just a match made in heaven, and no matter what the angle, they just got to get back together. They complete each other, balance each other, they just are meant to be together. And, with that said, I love your story. Post soon, please!!!

It’s good digging up dirt but I hope what they find doesn’t ruin Bette’s career, I don’t think Tina would be happy about that.
I love how Bette’s a totally different character – but damn, I still love that woman…so go easy on her ok, hahaha.
Oh, poor Bette, she doesn’t know whats coming, now that alice is in town. Flair, you have created yourself one great storyline. By taking your time and really developing this, this great story can go on forever. Because right now, it’s hard to see how Bette and Tina will ever get back together. But we know in the end, THEY HAVE TO! But later baby, this is too much fun for now.
Alice is going to do something bad, oh no!! i hope she isn’t going to OUT Bette that would be drama with a capital D….i so love this story…
