    Chandelier – 25

It stopped being a surprise, a long time ago. For some time now it stopped catching her attention, drawing her in, reminding her what she had was a good thing.

Tina glanced down at where Bette held her hand, leading her to the dancefloor, scarcely populated, as was the rest of the room. Thursday nights were not made for dating, but she wanted to come home to Angelica, to her daughter, and tell her of this night.

She wanted to spend the day after thinking about it, running it over and over in her head, if it failed where she’d gone wrong, and if it succeeded how wonderful it had been.

Tina’s eyes traveled up Bette’s arm, knowing the contrasts of the firm musculature and the soft touch of her Bette.

Bette stopped, and turned, drawing Tina into her.

It stopped being a surprise, how well they fit into each other. The way their hands fit effortlessly into the other’s, clasped together and promising to not let go.

Years ago, their first dance, each touch had sparked something within Tina, the recognition, as each touch told her that she and Bette fit.

Over time she’d allowed herself to get used to it, to take it for granted. To forget.

She’d immediately noticed the dancefloor, of course, a detail Helena had failed to mention when she’d suggested the secluded bistro/restaurant. To be fair, Helena had never been much for the dancing. Too bothersome, she’d said, if the point was getting a woman to bed, especially if you knew the woman wanted to be bedded in the first place. A telltale sign, Tina supposed, of how she and Helena could never really work as a couple. Helena used dancing as a test, whereas Tina thrived on the seduction, the magical spell a few stolen moments on the dancefloor could cast.

And Bette… well, Bette Porter was a master at seduction.

Bette felt, rather than heard, the small sigh that escaped Tina’s lips. "Anything wrong?"

"How is that possible?" Was the simple murmur of a reply.

Bette looked at Tina, who looked up to smile at her. "Are you leading?"

    1. …. I maybe should shouldn’t have read this in the library…. fantastic, HOT beyond all belief, and so wonderful… plays like a movie, and that thrills me to no end! Can’t wait for more, but especially the payoff!

    2. There is something about the way that you write Bette and Tina. You write them as if they are real people and the way that they would really relate to one another. After all those years together, both women would know how the other feels. By relating how individually they feel you get to see the innerworkings of their relationship and the possiblity of them once again being Bette and Tina.

    3. If Bette is the master of seduction on the dance floor, it is only because of your words. Very few create the sexual tension, sense of desire and titilation the way you do. You do that voodoo to me.

    4. ooohhh. you’ve turned me into a big puddle. i don’t know if this makes me feel better or worse about the show itself. better, i guess, because, it did give birth to these characters we love and worse because, well, why can’t they treat them with the care and respect that you and so many other thoughtful authors do on this board. so glad we have you. thanks.

    5. i’ve read this numerous times and i think it is by far, my favourite chapter. i love how you write these two beloved characters and make them come alive to captivate us. they seem to be so in sync with their unspoken thoughts, each feeling similiar emotions but not voicing out to each other. always looking forward to your next post, tiff. thanks for a beautiful piece :)

    6. TD, As always a tantalizing and torturously close encounter that has threatened to burn brightly but so far only embers are present. A joyous and delightful pleasure on a wet Monday afternoon. Thank you for every wonderful word you write. Your Loyal Fan.
