    Chandelier – 24

Sometime after dinner and before their coffee and dessert, Tina leaned back, and smiled at Bette.

So this was their first date. So far uneventful, no awkward pauses, some misguided lines of questioning. But generally a mild success, considering both women were still in their seats, and neither one running for the door.

There was no burning passion, though. The usual sexual tension, sure, but this was not the usual BetteandTina date, and even Tina knew it.

She blamed Helena’s speech, and the unexpected appointment with her shrink regarding this date. That had been an earful. And neither Angelica and Andrea, her two other confidantes, seemed to be short on opinions. All in all? Everyone found it highly amusing.

Bette lifted an eyebrow, seeing Tina regarding her. "What?"

Tina shook her head, unable to force a frown if she’d tried.

"You’re not keeping secrets from me, are you?" Bette asked curiously.

Tina’s smile momentarily faltered, but it was instantly back in place.

"Oh, what?" Bette demanded. "Is it how you have to have the car back by midnight?"

Tina shook her head. "Believe it or not, I have the Aston Martin at my disposal at the moment."

    "How’d you manage that?"

"I had to promise I only use it to date you."

    "Helena agreed to that?"

    "She has other cars."

"But, the Aston Martin?" Bette asked.

Tina shrugged, then again smiled that cat-ate-canary smile she kept having.

    Bette looked at her. "Talk."

Tina smiled at her. "You’re every bit as gorgeous as when I first met you."

    "Flattery now."

"I keep forgetting," Tina admitted. She shrugged. "But since the separation it’s been nagging me, everytime I see you."

    "Tina," Bette shook her head.

Tina looked at her. "I meant what I said, you know."

    "When?"

    "At your front door earlier."

Bette racked her brain, trying to remember what Tina had said. "I don’t think you said anything."

Tina blinked. "I didn’t say it out loud?"

"Say what?" Bette pried, laughing at Tina’s stunned expression.

"In my head I could’ve sworn I told you how beautiful you look." Tina told her.

    1. Tiff…you’re the shiznit. Your dialogue is fucking amazing. Do you speak to your friends in this manner? If so, you’re a brilliant conversationalist.

    2. You make these two sound almost like real people. I know that they are characters on a tv show, but I have come to love them as real people. You have taken that dream and showed them living in a world that would rather kick you in the face than help you survive. You have shown the reader the struggles that Tina has gone through in trying to figure out her own head. She knows that she loves Bette and wants her back but is afraid of all that goes with what makes Bette and Tina. You make me want to grab Tina’s hand and help her make that leap of faith into Bette’s life and to be her lover, friend and forever.

    3. What more can I say after all that’s been said by the other readers. Amazing. Let the dance begin, or rather, let the dance resume…the dance that’s their lives.

    4. Ah breakfast WITH tIFF (HHmmmnnnn that sounds familiar…?)….for me that is – I’m reading this with my toast & banana. We’ll all be hoping B&T get to breakfast together soon though

    5. Oh, finally Tina did something real. If they continued that ‘vague’ (can’t find a suitable word here) situation, I doubt they’d be eaten alive.

    6. I recognized the chapter title before reading the author note, a good song, not one of my faves though.. Woman, I love how balanced your characters are.. Only true Tibette fans don’t live in denial and vilify one of them.. YOU RULE..

    7. Your writing sucks me everytime despite the fact that I do not want Tibette together after all that shit. But like I said a trip to denialville is one helleva ride if you are the conductor! *Chug chug chu chu chu*

    8. Well Tiff, This is by far the best diologued(sp?) FF, i’ve read in a while. So I hoPe u keep it up. I lUv the fact that tina was being real, and tellin’ bette how she basically screwd up. UNlike the other writers who live on fantasywishful thinking land. This sounds sooo real, If IC does this, it would be plausible to see a reunion by B&T. KEEP IT UP, UR A GREAT WRITER.

    9. Thank you for such a great story and this chapter. WOW. You make them feel almost real, we can see and hear them talk almost. You are so very good. Please let them get together but not wait too overly long for that complete re-connection. Thanks.

    10. Hey TD, Pleasure abounds whenever I see that you hacve posted another magnificent chapter in this tale. Bette and Tina are slowly changing and realizing jusy how much they both wan this chance to work. your dialogue zips along and dazzles at every turn. Now will we gets to see these two love birds getting it on, on the dance floor. My wish for sure. Thank you so much for this brilliance and sharing it with me. Your Loyal Fan.
